Delish. Family ate them as fast as I could bake them.

Mardi Gras King Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
This is a very good, easy to follow recipe. The only ingredient changes I made were omitting raisins (not an authentic king cake addition) and a slight reduction in the nutmeg (I used regular ground), which I am glad I did. I did bake it at a slightly lower temp (330) for 25 minutes, also. I'm a Louisiana girl, and this is the real deal.

Very Berry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2012
This recipe is good in theory, but I found it needed some help. I do not think that 1/4c. sugar is enough. I will double that it my next attempt. I did use a sugar substitute, but it was equal measure. I also increased the cinnamon, added 1/2 tsp. of salt and 1 tsp. vanilla. It was still slightly bland. I may try adding lemon juice and zest, too.

Perfect. No changes needed. If they don't come out, you either over-mixed or over-baked them.

Parmesan Crusted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
I made this recipe last week from the Hellmann's site. It was so simple, easy and good. Definitely a new addition to the BSCB book. Dinner in 20? Yes!

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
I finally found a biscuit that I can make and be proud of. I only kneaded for a minute, just until everything was combined and the dough came together. This is a great recipe, very similar to the taste and texture of KFC.

Honey-Soy Pork Chops from the Bradshaw Family

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
I followed this recipe with exception of the sherry. I was a very nice change from the traditional "BBQ" pork chop flavor. Worth a try.

These were a nice meatball with a Greek flair. I have just recently started experimenting with Greek flavors and will make these again.

Jan's Pretzel Dogs

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
I made this recipe for the first time back before it was published, and my family loved it. I used both hot dogs and smoked sausage links, and both were great. They freeze well, too!

Pork Brine

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
I followed other reviewer's suggestions, and used about 1/3 the salt listed. I brined pork chops for 4 hours, and rinsed well, then brushed with a mixture of balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, cracked pepper and garlic powder. They were the best grilled pork chops we have ever made. Flavorful and moist.

These are outstanding. I do not readily have wheat germ on hand, so I always make it with 2 c. whole wheat flour. My family loves them.

Blackened Chicken

Very nice. I only deviated by using basil in the absence of thyme. I served it with penne Alfredo. I will definitely make this again.

Genoise

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
I was somewhat disappointed with this cake. I am a very proficient baker, but this was not what I had imagined genoise to be. I followed the directions to a T, but ended up with a dense cake.

Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
These are very good, moist muffins. They are not heavy unless you over mix them. I made them with splenda, but used brown sugar in the crumb topping. I mixed white chocolate chips in half the batch (great!) The whole family enjoyed them.

Very moist, flavorful chicken. The only deviation was subbing basil for thyme since I had none. Will definitely make this again.
