Southern Living Magazine's Chicken-Fried Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2003
This is a great recipe!! My husband who is a chicken fried steak lover said it was perfect. I did follow some suggestions and use much less oil. Also my family has a favorite country gravy mix so I just used that but I mixed it in the skillet to get all of the left over "crunchy" in the bottom. With garlic mashed potatos this was a wonderful meal.

Strawnana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
This is a great recipe! To get more of the strawberry flavor that other reviewers said they couldn't taste, I put the strawberries in sliced instead of mashed. I did let the beaters whip them around a bit but the berries were still chuncky. My family thinks that it is great. I am making this a permanent resident in my recipie box.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2004
This soup was a huge hit with my DH and DS but not my 3 yr old DD (read picky eater). I left the beans out and added southwest chicken strips instead of canned. We crumbled chips on top then added sour cream, shredded cheese and chopped avocado. Served with quesadillas on the side this has became a new family favorite. We plan to make this often and share the recipe too!

Party Punch I

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2004
This is a great punch. I used white grape juice and when I began mixing it I realized that I had grabbed a white grape juice with cranberry by mistake. It didn't matter. It was still great! Because we were in a time crunch we didn't freeze the lemons, we just sliced them and floated them on top. It was pretty and tasty. Thank you! This is my punch recipe from now on!!!

Chicken Fried Steak I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
I took 2 other review recommendations and the steak came out perfect. I made my own gravy which is similar to the one given. I let it set ten minutes after dredging and I made sure that my oil was hot. The coating stayed and we had a great meal.

Not only easy but also very tasty! It was a little salty so next time I might use sodium free broth. Yummy!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
Very yummy! Next time I will cut back on the lemon juice because the kids thought it was too sour. I thought it was great. I did take others advice and use garlic instead of celery salt and I added bread crumbs. I am definately putting this recipe in our fish rotation.

These cookies are fabulous!! My daughter and I added some cocoa powder to make them choc. choc chip and this is now one of my favorite recipes. I did cut back on the vanilla. A full Tbls. is alot of vanilla and they tasted fine with the lower amount.

Angel's Old Fashioned Beef Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2003
I thought that this recipe was delicious and so did my family. I did make a few adjustments though. I used my crockpot so I browned the meat in a skillet and when that was done I browned the onions and celery in the same skillet and scraped the pan real well to get all of the drippings. I let it cook all day on low THEN for the last half hour or so I turned it up to high and added the potatos and carrots so they wouldn't get too mushy. Also I seasoned the meat and veggies all separately while using low sodium broth. The taste was wonderful last night and I can't wait to taste it today at lunch!

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
This bread was fabulous! I did add more pumpkin pie spices (cloves, allspice). I made two loaves and a pan of muffins. After pouring the first pan I added chocolate chips to the rest of the batter. It is delicious with and without the chips. I also spray my pans and coat with a cinnamon and sugar mix before I pour in the batter. One side note...I lost count of my cups of flour and I think I only put in 2 instead of 3. All of the bread came out very dense and resembled the weight of a brick, but the flavor was fantastic and my family has eaten most of it already. I will definately make this again and try all of the flour!

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
This is a very versatile recipe. My picky kids love them and it saves me money making bars instead of buying them. I did take another reviewers advice and I pressed them into my jelly roll pan.I sprayed my hands with cooking spray to press the mix into the pans without it sticking to my fingers. I also used pecans and sprinkled the top with cinnamon before baking. I cut them into 24 bars. Easy recipe for kids too! My 7 year old daughter was able to help me with most of it.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
I love this recipe! It is so easy! Like another reviewer I also just melt the butter instead of trying to cut it into the flour. My kids love them when I divide the dough in half and flatten it putting a layer of brown sugar and cinnamon between the layers and then seal them. Wonderful!
