Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2014
I made this recipe for a Chinese New Year celebration we hosted at our senior center and they loved it! Very easy and delicious. I pretty much followed the recipe as printed and had no difficulties. I just wish I'd made more sauce, but overall, it was a winner.

Potato and Vegetable Frittata

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
This was a very good basic recipe. I read a lot of the reviews and decided to modify the recipe a bit by using things I had in the fridge such as asparagus, some spinach, feta cheese and provolone instead of mozzarella and Parmesan. I didn't skimp on the tomato and threw in some garlic and Tobasco sauce for some kick. I usually try to stick to the given recipe at first but after reading the reviews, I decided I could play with this a bit. Because the spinach, tomato and asparagus may have added more liquid to the recipe than necessary, I drained it off before putting it into the broiler. The end result was it is a winner. I have added it to my recipe box and will definitely be making it again. Thanks so much for the gift of a good recipe. P.S. I steamed the asparagus first to soften it up and cut it into bite sized pieces.

Juicy Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2012
This was an awesome recipe! I would not change a thing. Not only was the turkey moist and flavorful, but the drippings made a wonderful base for the gravy. I never would have thought to use champagne and I'm really glad I came upon this recipe. Oh, and it was so easy! Thank You.

Maryland Crab Cakes I

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2012
This is one lady from Baltimore who really enjoyed this recipe. Easy to prepare and the results were excellent. I would have given it a 5 star, but there's a restaurant in Baltimore that makes the ABSOLUTE best crabcakes around (G&M) and I think there may be a secret ingredient that they use that I still haven't quite figured out what it is. Nonetheless, this was a very nice recipe. Thank You John L.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
This was sooooo good. I just got back from a Superbowl party and someone said it was the best food there and there was a lot of good food there. The thing that I liked about this recipe is that it was so easy to prepare. I took the advice of other reviewers and used a whole onion and really didn't alter much of anything beyond that. Fantastic!

I made this for a Sunday NFL party and it was a huge hit. I wish I'd made more so I could've taken home some leftovers! The beauty of it was the simplicity and ease of making. A real crowd pleaser. Thank You!

The Best Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
These were very good and very simple to make. They didn't run off the cookie sheet, like some recipes, and boy did my house smell good while they were baking.

Carrot Cake III

These were wonderful. I followed the recipe exactly but made cupcakes instead of a conventional cake and served them at a cookout. Everyone loved them. Thanks.

Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2011
Great recipe! I made it for a Memorial Day cookout and it was a big hit and very easy. I made a few minor changes such as: I used apple cider vinegar because I didn't have any white vinegar and I blanched the broccoli. I'll definitely make this again. Thanks.

Kris' Amazing Shredded Mexican Beef

Reviewed: May 6, 2011
This was very flavorful and the meat was so tender and the house smelled terrific. I did add a little bit of salt to the sauce (about 2 tsp.). I made shredded beef enchiladas and the family really liked them. To me, it seemed very authentic. Thanks.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
This was a terrific recipe that I pretty much followed to the letter except that I had sweet Italian turkey sausage and used that. The bonus was that it was probably a little lower in fat. Wonderful flavor and the vodka gave it a very subtle boost in flavor.

These were delish! The next time I think I will drizzle them with some sort of glaze (as pictured). This recipe is a keeper. Thanks.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
Oh my! These were good indeed. I took some other reviewer suggestions and boiled the garlic along with the potatoes. I also added some green onions to the top of the potatoes as a kind of garnish, but they added a subtle flavor to them also. Very creamy, very easy. I'll be making these again.

Alice Chicken

This was so good that my picky-eater son declared, "This is the best chicken recipe you've ever made!" He's 21 and apparently has endured more than his fair share of mediocre chicken dinners.

Moroccan Lentil Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
This was very tasty. I did follow some customized suggestions by adding turmeric, cayenne pepper and curry powder. The lime juice and all of the fresh ingredients, especially the cilantro gave it a wonderful flavor. I'll be making this again and I'm especially looking forward to making it this summer when the vegetables are seasonal. Thank you Hetal.

Rubbed and Grilled Pork Loin sans grill

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
This was very flavorful and easy. I only had a 1.5lb tenderloin, but made the same amount of rub, using garlic and onion powder (3/4 tsp. each) and 3/4 tsp salt (because I only had unsalted versions of the above and didn't want to overdo it w/spice and salt). I also prefer brown sugar and used that instead of white sugar. Since we no longer have a grill, I decided to cook it in the oven in a the Pampered Chef covered baker. At the last minute I panicked about its being too salty, so I sliced up some red potatoes and threw them in the dish, hoping they would soak up some of the salt. As for oven temp, I followed package directions, baking at 425 F for 40 minutes, no longer. When it came out of the oven, the temp read 170 F, so I probably could've cooked it for a little less time, BUT, it was NOT dry! In fact, it was very moist and flavorful & the potatoes were delicious, nothing was too salty. I ordinarily do not deviate from the recipe upon first try and I usually don't go into such lengthy detail in a review, but I just wanted to make the point that this is a very versatile recipe that can be adapted to certain situations and it's definitely a keeper. Thank you!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Having never made this before, I took a chance by inviting another couple over for dinner and making this dish. It was outstanding! I didn't change a thing, but I did read quite a few of the reviews and felt pretty confident that it would be a winner. Thank you, thank you and thank you again. I'll definitely be making this dish again...not too soon because of the calories, but it is now a part of my repertoire.
