Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2004
These cookies are great! Unfortunately I had to stray from the recipe just a bit due to an egg allergy (toddler). I used an egg sub (1 banana mashed with 1 tsp of baking powder for the 2 eggs) and baked them for just under 8 minutes. My little guy LOVED these! The banana didn't overwhelm the oatmeal taste either. Great cookie, thanks so much Barbara!

Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2004
Good soup. I do however like it better with ground italian sausage (which I brown, not bake). when I add the sausage to the soup I also like to give a sprinkle of crushed red pepper for an extra kick. Thanks Holly :)

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2004
Steve, my dog goes nuts when I bake because of the smells omitting from the oven. He layed there waiting for a morsel of a baked good to drop, not realizing that it actually was for him. Anyway, when I gave him one, he took off under the computer desk and horded as if it were a soup bone! He loved them, and I love the fact that I know that they are all natural! Thanks Donna!!

Apple-Raspberry Crisp

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2004
4 stars for the apple-raspberry part, as that was very tasty. However the crisp part was very bland, which may have been my fault because I added more flour as it was a big mushy mess. If I try it again, I will add the sugar to the crisp part as the previous reviewer suggested. I also used mixed berries (blue, straw & rasp) and that went great with Breyers vanilla ice cream. Thanks for the sweets Cindi!

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2003
This was tasty! I do however recommend using 8 eggs, as this was barely enough to feed 4 adults. Other than that fab. Easy & tasty = 5 stars. Thanks Meredith!

Sesame Grilled Salmon with Wasabi Slaw

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2003
Well, well, well this one was a hard one to rate. It was an okay recipe with an okay outcome, BUT what I'm wondering is: if the salmon was marinated in the wasabi mixture would it have more of a "hot" taste. On the slaw the dressing was great, in fact my husband loved it, he said "it would be better without the seeds". For the slaw, I cheated and used "Pearson" oriental stir fry, which consists of a mixture of chopped Napa, Bok Choy, celery, waterchestnuts & carrots. It is found by the pre-packaged salads. Came out excellent. The fish on the other hand didn't have the hottness that I had hoped. It was yummy, but not as I expected. Like I said, marinating the fish may give it 5 stars, but recipe as is = barely a 4. Thanks.

Egg Free Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2003
For an egg free cookie this works great with coffee. It's kinda like pumpkin bread, but easier. The chocolate chips add a nice sweetness to the cookie. My toddler is allergic to eggs and picky to boot, but he LOVED these! He always wants "two more cookies". Make sure that you store them in an air tight container/cookie jar, as they will harden within a few hours. Thanks for the recipe!!!!

Cajun Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2003
These had just the right kick for the guys' Monday night football entourage. I did however add about a tablespoon of white vinegar to the yolks, and used white pepper vs. the black. Good eggs, I would use again (even my 12 yr. old liked them.)

Bacon Roll Ups I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2003
Everyone loved these! They were said to have the taste of a "BLT" (obviously without the L&T). I added finely chopped green onion, garlic powder & a bit of chopped fresh parsley. I also cheated quite a bit & used already cooked bacon (from market day) so that cut down on the oven time & grease and I used "Iron Kids crustless bread to save in that area as well. Thanks Austid!!

Drunk Dogs

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2003
YUM! Of course the day that I want to make these, the store is offering rain checks for the lil smokies. Sooo, I found Johnsonville little "brat bites". Worked great (maybe better). I used only a 16 oz. bottle of ketchup for 2 lbs. of the "brats" (I thought the 28 oz. to be way to much), and I used about 1/2 cup of whisky. I also added about a tbsp of grape jelly & that seemed to take away the ketchup taste. I will use again, thanks Linda!

Grandpa Bob's Spicy Barbeque Sauce

This is a good sauce, a tasty marinade, but not hot what so ever. The chicken came out very tender. I will spice it up next time, thanks Nancerini!

French Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2003
Okay gang for those who think it's odd to soak them in warm water...well the warm water is merely to dissolve the sugar. After the sugar is dissolved I add some ice and then do the soaking. These fries are the best. I have baked these (spraying with pam & seasoning w/ garlic salt) as well as fried them and they are always a hit. Thanks Lorelei!

Awesome Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
I have a mass amount of fresh green beans to use up, so I used them. I also happened to have 2 left over Italian sausages so I cut those up and this made a great meal for me & side dish for the others. I really liked the blend, next time I may try vegetable broth instead of the water. Thanks Kari!
