The Best Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2003
Great tasting cookie Shannon. I do have to say that I subbed 1 banana w/ a 1/2 tsp. of baking powder (which is an egg sub) for the two eggs, but I only did this because my almost 2 year old is allergic to eggs. The banana added a nice unique flavor. The cookies did turned out a little flat, but they served the purpose! My older 2 kids LOVED all of the chocolate chips which sorta masked the banana. Thanks for the recipe!

Pan Fried Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2003
I cut the oil dramatically, like to a splash. I sooo wanted to add it while the beans were "burning" but restrained myself. The taste was good, but it did take a while to get to the "burn" stage. Nobody commented on if they liked or disliked them, so I'll hang with a 3. Thanks Shearyah.

Mashed Potato Cloud

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2003
I normally make my mashed potatoes like this, but using skim milk. I liked the idea of using my kitchen aid to whip them up though (not quite sure why I've never done that). These were good, however tasted the same as my normal recipe, so I think that I will stick to the skim/less calories version. Thanks SM.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2003
I expected way more from this. I love Italian food, but these just didn't do much for me. I agree with other reviewers about the eggs being too much, so I used 1. My breading fell off as I was trying to cut it...perhaps I did something wrong (although I did stay with the recipe)? I probably won't risk the calories again, thanks anyway Elisa, it's just my opinion...which probably means squat to you after all of those great reviews ;-))

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
Well I was expecting more of a French bread, which these were not. Don't get me wrong, they were good, a little sweet, but good. These would go great with soup, or as a beef bun as others have suggested. I will cut the sugar next time & maybe cut a diagonal "slit" to see if they bake up a bit better (they aren't very pretty). Thanks Jo!

Italian Meat Sauce II

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
YUM! I whirled the tomatoes (Italian style) through the blender, but only because my clan doesn't like chunks, and I added some shredded Italian blend cheese, about 1/4 cup, to the meatballs. Oh yeah, I forgot to add the wine, but I did add pinches of oregano & basil here & there. This turned out delicious. Hubby AND son told me that it was really good (and hubby is not fond of change..especially when it comes to his favorite, which is spaghetti sauce). A keeper in my book, thanks Flocco!! Next time I'll add the wine.

Horseradish Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
WOW, this tasted just like sour cream with dill added to it! I really had to tinker with this one so that it would have a taste. I added a lot more horseradish, and took Janet's review advice & added dijon mustard. I ended up adding a little mayo as well. Much better. Thanks for the idea Michael!

Light & Tasty Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
These paired well with ham, and were over all good. I boiled the potatoes almost all the way through to ensure proper cooking. I really liked the addition of the swiss cheese in this. I do like my potatoes a bit creamier, but overall a good dish. Thanks TOH.

Mexican Vegetable Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2003
Good, not "wow", not blah, but good. Basic rice with veges added. Went really good with fish, easy enough to make again, but using canned Mexican diced tomatoes for more of a flair. Thanks Michelle!

Salsa De Tomatillo

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2003
YUM, nice & spicy, well at least with the pepper that I used (I didn't de-seed it). Yum, I used this in "Amy's cilantro cream sauce" (from this site) and it was great in that as well. Thank you Sandy!

Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2003
This is AWESOME!!! It saved my dinner tonight. I used it with fish, but it was tasty as a chip dip (frito scoops) as well. I couldn't find any tomatillo sauce, so I once again turned to allrecipes and found "salsa de tomatillo" & used a very hot pepper, great sauce! Thanks Amy!!

Mexican Baked Fish

The topping was good, but not with the fish. I will try it again with chicken. Sorry Christine.

Dill Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2003
Great dressing! I used this last night to marinate asparagus & that was good, but I used the rest on a lunch salad today & YUM! The longer it has to meld together, the tastier it is! I did cut the sugar in 1/2 & used "garlic red wine vinegar, mmmmm. Thanks Rinnie!

Simply Steamed Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2003
Exactly as the name states. I used "dill vinaigrette" (from this site) instead of the butter. Basic, but good. Thanks Kim.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2003
Don't let the "cola" scare you away from this recipe. In the past, every single time I add coke to a meat recipe (usually pork) it comes out sooo tender, which was the case here as well. I used a pepsi, but I did pick up on the sweetness (I drink diet coke, so maybe that's why & I'm not a pepsi fan either) but my family RAVED about how good this was and didn't make mention of any sweetness so it was probably me. For ease I stuck this all in the crock pot on high for 4 hours. I also used cream of celery soup because that is all I had on hand & then added chopped mushrooms instead of the chopped celery. Thanks Sher, will use again, my family kept saying how good it was ;o)

A Potato Salad Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
Don't laugh, but I make these everytime I have left over potato salad, which I did, so I ate one for my meatless Friday lunch. I sub mustard for the mayo, because I feel the salad has enough mayo. Great minds think alike, eh Jenny?

Jalapeno Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
My crowd loved these! I made them in my mini muffin tins for a little quiche look & they went over very well. I used about 3/4 c. of flour and added about 1/4 tsp. of salt. I also didn't deseed my jalapenos because I wanted that "kick", but they weren't as hot as I thought they would be. Next time I will use a habenaro along with the jalapenos and maybe add some salsa too, but I will use again, thanks Dinah!

Easy Pizza Sauce II

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
This sauce saved my booty when I was making "cheesy pizza dip" from this site, and realized that I didn't have any pizza sauce. I had everything on hand to make it & it lived up to it's name. I also added a pinch of sugar. I will use this next time I make the dip as well. Thanks Melanie!!

Cheesy Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
Agreed that this may not be the prettiest looking dip (it kinda took on a pink color), but boy the taste makes up for that! My brother-in-law couldn't tell me enough how much he liked it, and took what little was left home ;) I sprinkled chopped pepperoni over the top, and served with a cut up french baguette. Good dip, thanks Sara!

Black Forest Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
I made these for a party Saturday night & I'll tell ya, they worked out great. Instead of a "vanilla wafer" which is too small, I used peanut butter cookie dough (that I bought from market day) and used about 1/2 tbsp. smashed down to fit into the bottom of each cup, then baked them for about 10 min., and then followed the recipe from there. Topped them with the sour cream mixture and then frozen mixed berries (thawed) with a little of the "juice" for each. They turned out great. I suggest doubling the sour cream mixture, it doesn't go very far, and is pretty tasty. Thanks Hershey's!
