Strawberry Angel Food Cake
About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom to one little boy. I am a pretty notice baker/cooker and honestly didn't really get into cooking and baking until I was pregnant with my son and home full time. I absolutely love it now though!! Trying to juggle a new baby and trying new things in the kitchen has been interesting... but I am getting the hang of it :-)
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, cakes, brownies, pies, pastas, slow cooker meals, baked meals, ETC!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Honestly I am one of the only cooks in the family. No one really taught be how to cook per-say. The "creativeness" I got from my mother though! She has it in the craft room... but I have it in the kitchen. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Forcing my self to try new things! It seemed once I broke away from the mold lots of the first things I tried were a huge bust... but once I got the hang of it and being CREATIVE with my cooking... I have been full speed ahead.
My cooking tragedies
Oh who hasn't had the typical "forgot an ingredient" or "forgot a step" moment! I have also walked off and forgot something in the oven before... WHOOPS! :-P

Heavenly Angel Food Cake
Another 5 star rating added to this cake recipe!! It is well deserved. I did add a few things to this cake only because I was wanting a strawberry angel food cake. The only thing different I did was add 1 teaspoon of strawberry vanilla extract and a 3oz box of strawberry gelatin. I added the extract when I added the vanilla and almond and I sifted the gelatin with the flour and cofectioners' sugar. For icing I did 1 pint of strawberries pureed, 16 oz of confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. MAN O MAN O MAN. This cake was seriously like something straight out of a bakery. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

Sweet and Sour Chicken I
Absolutely love this recipe!!! Delicious!! I added green onions and red peppers for more color and taste. I cooked the peppers and onions in olive oil for 5 minutes before adding them. I also added a little garlic powder to the batter and to the sauce. Oh and I didn't have any orange food coloring... so I used yellow :-) YUM!

Cream Cheese Coffee Cake
My rating is really only based on the cake part. Because based on the previous reviews... I didn't want the lemon in the cheese filling and I am not a fan of nuts. So here is how I made this. I followed the cake instructions step by step except I sifted the dry ingredients and did 1/2 brown sugar 1/2 white. For the filling I did 8oz of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter and a half teaspoon of vanilla extract. For the topping I did a streusel. 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of room temp butter, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. I sprinkled the crumble mixture on top and baked for 40 minutes. After the cake had completely cooled I put a glaze on top. For the glaze I took 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of melted butter, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2 table spoons of milk. Mix and drop glaze from a spoon on to cake. After making those changes... this is one of the best coffee cakes I have ever had! Next time I will add a little more sugar to the cake and maybe a little almond extract.
