Storybook Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2013
This recipe was exactly what I was looking for! I followed the recipe exactly except that I added 1/4 teaspoon of cloves. I did find that I had to work some extra flour in when rolling them out between two sheets of waxed paper. I put parchment paper on my cookie sheet and they were simple to remove with no problems of breakage, etc. I even refrigerated half of the dough overnight and still had to add the flour. The cookies are a mild flavored soft gingerbread. They freeze well and taste just as good when they have been thawed out. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2012
This was really worth more than 5 stars! I will certainly make this again. I did make a few slight changes for my familiy's personal tastes.I used 1/2 pound of ground meat and 1/2 pound of sausage. While browning the meat I added a couple tablespons of dried chopped onion and a tablespoon of minced garlic plus a tablespoon of italian seasonings I mixed the sauce with the meat before layering and placed a small amount of sauce in the bottom of the crockpot before layering the rest of the ingredients. I mixed the mozzarella chesse and the ricotta together and spread on top of each layer. I sprinkled probably 1/2 cup parmesaen cheese on top for the last 15 minutes along with the mozzarella cheese. Mine was done in 5 hours on low. No problems with cleaning the crockpot afterwards.

Glorified Gingerbread

Very good! I will make this again. However, this was more like gingerbread cake not a bar cookie. I also replaced the shortening with butter.

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2011
This pie was delicious and I will be making it again. It was beautiful to look at and really was tasty. I pretty much followed the recipe exactly except that I was making two 10 inch pies so I doubled all the ingredients except I used more strawberries & did follow one reviewers advice and (painted) the crust with melted chocolate. I had so many things going on that I made the pie crusts one evening and cleaned the strawberries and let them dry on paper towels in the fridge until the next day when I made the filling. I placed the whole strawberries in the chocolate coated pie shell and mixed the sugar & cornstarch together and added the water stirred and then added the strawberries which I pulsed in my food processor. Placed all in a pan and cooked over med high heat stirring constantly until it started to boil then let it simmer for 3 minutes. Let it cool for about 5 minutes and spooned over the whole strawberries. It was set up in severl hours but I did not serve the pies until the next day and the crust was still good and was not soggy at all. Received many compliments!

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
These were dekicious ! The crust was much better than using graham cracker crumbs as a lot of recipes do. I did not change any of the ingredients at all except that before baking and before sprinkling the reserved crumb topping on I drizzled some seedless red rasberry jelly (my favorite) on the top and swirled it through the batter with a knife. I will make this recipe again and again.

This is a different wonderful pumpkin pie to serve. I made this years ago but instead of the graham cracker crust I lined the pie pan with gingersnaps. Try it you will like it.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
Great Salad - all the ladies at my luncheon asked for the recipe. I did use butter lettuce along with the romaine and used craisins rather than the cranberries. I peeled and diced my pears and apples the night before so just kept them in a seperate container with some of the dressing covering them they stayed nice and white. I did not feel like getting the food processor out so just used my electric mixer and the dressing was delicious. I had considered doubling the dressing ingredients but I'm glad that I didn't as there was plenty of dressing.

Gingerbread Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
This was very tasty ! I did make a minor change by using 6 Tablespoons of butter rather than the oil though. I baked them at 350 degrees for 20 minutes then after slicing I baked them again for 15 minutes. Other than the buuter and baking times I changed nothing else. Will certainly be making these again. I did get out white chocolate to melt and drizzle over them but after tasting them I felt they were delicious as is so I put the chocolate back in the cupboard. Thank you very much for the recipe.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
This Pecan Pie was excellent ! I was hesitant to make it because some reviewers did not like its presentation. I was very pleased with the looks and the taste. I made a 10 inch pie so I did make a recipe and a half of the filling. The only changes I made to the recipe and a half was to only use 1/4 cup of white sugar and 2 cups of chopped pecans. It was really plenty sweet and was enjoyed by all. I will certainly make again. Thanks for the excellent recipe.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
My husband & I love this macaroni salad. I have made it three times allready. Followed it exactly except I didn't have peppers on hand and I haven't added the pepper when making it again. Really don't think the pepper would add to our enjoyment.

BLT Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
Was certainly easy to prepare. I read the many reviews & followed the recipe pretty much as written probably added more bacon than was suggested. I used grape tomatoes and cut them in half and used the bacon ranch dressing as suggested. The salad was pleasant to the eye but I really didn't think it had a lot of flavor to it. I served this with many other dishes at a buffet party and was asked for recipes for other dishes but not for this one I will not make again.

Round Steak and Gravy II

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
This was very simple to make and very tasty and flavorful. I did follow others suggestion and used 1 package of the dry onion soup mix instead of the can that was called for. After dipping the round steak in flour and browning it in a dutch oven, I mixed the can of cream of mushroom soup the dry onion soup mix and two cans of water and poured it over the round steak. I added 1 beef bullion cube and baked at 350 degrees for two hours. The round steak was tender and I had to add nothing to the gravy. It was the perfect consistency. I will certainly make this again.

Black 'n' White Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
These were great ! Since I am not a big fan of semi-sweet chocolate chips I substituted milk chocolate/peanut butter chipa. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. It was certainly simple to make. Followed others suggestions and lined my pan with foil so I had no problem removing them from pan. I will certainly make them again.
