About this Cook
I was a chef with a Texas grocery chain. I and my staff taught people how to cook at home and provide their familes with great food, quick and easy. I am now retired and still love to cook and share the food with family and friends. My mother taught me to cook starting at age 7, which was 60 years ago.
My favorite things to cook
I really like seafood and lamb
My favorite family cooking traditions
cooking with family and friends
My cooking triumphs
I have won several recipe contests. One for a dessert and one for a complete brunch.
My cooking tragedies
My last cheesecake was a flop when I put sour cream in instead of whipping cream.

Family Favorite Raisin-Filled Cookies
Have not tried this recipe, but, very similar to my grandmothers. Correct in saying (don't work the do too much. Best cookie in the known universe. My wife bakes a double batch every year for Christmas.

Sweet Zucchini Relish
I like it hot, so, I added 4 thinnly sliced and seeded jalapenos to the batch. Nice zing.

Panna Cotta
For those of us with Diabetes, use the Splenda and if you are a chocolate fiend like me, add some bitter-sweet chocolate and use the raspberries as a topping. You can also use 1/2 tsp almond extract and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Made it one time using 1/2 tsp coconut extract, 1/2 tsp rum extract and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Topped it with a mixture of kiwis and mango with a dash of honey and some lime juice to make a syrup. Chef Dave
