About this Cook
I do stuff. Some of it I do well. Most of it, not so much :P I'm currently working on a painting project. I started it in August of 2010. It's the front half of our hallway. I'm anticipating I might finish in August of 2011, but don't hold your breath :P
My favorite things to cook
I love to grill about anything! I've even made peach cobbler on the grill. Living in the south, now, means I can pretty much grill all winter long, which I love!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas candy during the holiday season. I now make all my Christmas candy right before Thanksgiving so I can share it with my in-laws over the holiday!
My cooking triumphs
Gravy is my nemesis! I finally got a batch of gravy to turn out right this summer! Unfortunately, I had roasted 10 lbs of chicken, so I ended up with a large vat of gravy :S
My cooking tragedies
Garlic Naan--(my husband said I invented garlic pancakes) Low fat cookie sponges--the dogs still liked them, but then again. . . Low fat Mac & Cheese--okay, so you can't substitute chicken broth for everything. And too many more to even list :P

Smoky Chipotle Hummus
I just started making my own hummus last summer, but I got so stuck on this recipe that it's the only one I've tried so far! I also made the mistake of adding a whole can of chipotle peppers, but I love the spiciness, so I now make it that way each time!

Danish Almond Puff
I found this recipe a few years back, and it's become a Christmas Eve tradition. It's simple to make and it's such a light and tasty pastry that it goes great after a heavy meal. In fact, we usually have leftovers with coffee for Christmas morning breakfast!
