I am Mom of 5 children. Two are mine and 3 are my step children. I am blessed! I am also a full time student at a local university going for my Elementary Education degree. My 2 absolute needs are reading and gardening. Cooking is an outcropping of my garden. I can remember cooking my first major meal for my parents anniversary when I was 15. Cornish hens with a rum-raisin glaze with spaetzle, blanched almond green beans, and a pear tart. I think it went well. They said they loved it!
My favorite things to cook
I go through phases. At the moment I am experimenting with a more gourmet menu. I am also trying to perfect the basics like pie crusts and homemade breads, biscuits and pastries.

The holidays are big for me. I cater desserts for parties and bake most of my presents.
My cooking triumphs
The summer of 2010, we grilled pizzas for my newly blended family. Despite the doubts of my crew, they were amazing!!
My cooking tragedies
The only one that stands out in my mind was a Chicken and Dumpling recipe where the stock was not boiling enough to keep the dumplings intact. They all melted, but it turned out to be the best cream of chicken soup we had ever eaten!!
