Never Fail Applesauce Spice Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I had made some applesauce and was looking for a recipe for applesauce cake to use some. Am I ever glad I found this one! Moist, flavorful and oh so easy to make. I like a little darker cake, so I added 2 tablespoons of molasses, but that's the only change. We love it.

WWII Spam and Egg Sandwich

I guess if you never had Spam (or don't like it), this may not sound good. But, trust me, it is great! A perfect quick meal sandwich.

Egg Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
Ok, this is a really simple recipe, but I thought it was easy & delicious. I like making scrambled eggs without fat, too. When you're hungry & in a hurry, this is perfect - or to grab for breakfast at work.

Wow! The absolutely, very best recipe for cinnamon buns ever!! I always failed at cinnamon buns before, but this bread machine version is perfect - and I made them perfect the first time. I followed the recipe exactly and wouldn't change a thing. Thanks Fionasmom!!

Clothes Pin Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
Diny was absolutely correct about the clothespins she used! I had to smile when I read the reviews because the clothespins referred to in the name of these cookies are the very old fashioned ones - without springs. No matter though, these cookies are a piece of heaven in your mouth! A MUST MAKE and so worth the time.

Coconut Lime Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
Wow - what yummy rice!! I made this exactly as written and it was delicious (did I mention that I LOVE lime and coconut - and rice?) I didn't have any mango, so I added some home made hot pepper jelly (jalapeno) and it was divine. It's a little work to zest the lime, but you HAVE to try this. Oh, I also sauteed the rice and coconut, then dumped it all in a rice cooker with all the coconut milk and half the water. I love this so much, I'm eating it right now for lunch with shrimp.

Figs and Toasted Almonds Brie

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
We LOVE this!! We always have an abundance of figs in late summer, so I use our own for this scrumptious brie - I don't change a thing. Also delicious with the almond/fig sauce on the brie then wrapped in puff pastry and baked.

North German Gruenkohl (Kale) and Sausage

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Absolut lecker!!Yum, yum in German. A variation on traditional German Winter "greens" (in Hessen, we make ours much the same, but with smoked hocks and no bacon). I made this with the bacon and we LOVED it, so it's going in my pot of this warming, filling Winter dish from now on. Oh, use thick sliced bacon.

Home Made Farmer's Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
Beautiful recipe!! The vinegar seems to be the key, and since I don't want the lemon flavor in my cheese, I'll stick to vinegar - Farmer's cheese IS bland after all. I come from an Eastern European family and my great aunts miss good Farmer's cheese for their recipes. Well, now I can make it, AND our traditional recipes like Plakcinta and Hunklich!! Thanks so much!!!
