Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
Very good! This batch was enough for 3 breakfasts for me. I've made it twice now and made the following changes: 1. Don't let it get too thick then it kind of becomes a clump 2. Add about a tsp of cinnamon (I did 2 because I love it!) 3. I only used 1/4 C of brown sugar and it was perfectly sweet to me. This way you can add more if you want more on the top but you can't subtract!

Lemon Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
These were amazing. I made them for my daughter's 1st birthday party and everyone loved them. The only thing I changed was instead of 2 cups of sour cream, I substituted one cup for plain yogurt, which I think gave it a nice little tang.

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
This is excellent and even good as a snack. My 1 year old daughter loves it and it's good for her! A few things though... make sure you buy a mango that's ripe but not too ripe or it's stringy when you try to cut it. And the same goes for the avocado... not too ripe or it gets very squishy or sometimes turns into a paste when you mix everything together. Still tastes excellent but the presentation is not the same.

Pasta with Kielbasa and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
Very good. I didn't have wine so I used apple juice and used a teaspoon of dried parsley. I also didn't rinse the kraut and would definitely make this again. I may actually up the AJ a bit to make it a little sweeter.

Raspberry Pear Crisp

Too bitter for me. I would've had to add a lot of sugar or honey to make it better.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I made this recipe out of pure desperation. I remembered hours before going to my in-laws for dinner that I had to bring a dessert and I happened to have all of the ingredients in my cupboard, which included jam that I hated and was going to throw out anyways. This turned out AMAZINGLY well! Chewy and so much flavour. Don't hesitate to make this one.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This is an excellent recipe and the first time I made it I followed the directions exactly and it took close to 2 hours in the oven before it was done. So the second time I made it I added diced green pepper (to give it a stuffed tomato taste to it) and shredded carrot (to hide another veggie in there). I also used 1 1/2 cans of tomato sauce and brown rice. I browned all of the meat and veggies together, added the rest of the ingredients, put a lid on it and simmered it on the stove top for about an hour and everything was done to perfection!

Balsamic Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
We're HUGE fans of balsamic vinegar so I think when I was done, I put in about a 1/4 cup. Great sauce!

Spaghetti Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
How many languages can you say "delicious" in? I too added 1.5 jars of sauce, tossed the spaghetti in olive oil and Parmesan. Worked out insanely well. Try it! You'll LOVE it!

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
I love it! I used the recipe exactly and keep the herbs in a baggie on hand in my cupboard for when I need some Italian dressing for a recipe since I never use it on an actual salad (I like my balsamic). I put a sticker on the baggie saying how much oil, vinegar and herbs to use to whip up a batch whenever needed.

Shirred Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
Very good and very easy! Would be great for a brunch. I used a muffin tin as recommended by another and they turned out perfectly. It needed something, not sure what though. Maybe more parmesan?

Sliced Tomatoes with Fresh Herb Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
It is a good recipe but I definitely agree that you need some red wine vinegar. I ate it right away but think it would have been better had it marinated for a bit. Watch out for the garlic since it's fresh, it packs quite a bite!

Microwaved Potatoes Lyonnaise

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
Great recipe! So easy! I too sliced my potatoes and when they were all done in the microwave, I topped them with shredded cheddar and parmesan and threw it under the broiler for a few minutes to melt and brown. Really good!

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
Holy smokes this was delish! I used a lot of the suggestions made by Jamie, added garlic and sauteed yellow, red and green peppers along with the diced chicken instead of baking it and used 5% cream and it was really good and will definitely be at the front of my cookbook!

Grilled Broccoli

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Holy smokes! This is a great recipe! Makes amazing broccoli, I almost ate them all myself! I made them in the oven (it's winter and soooo cold outside!) so I put them in a 400 degree oven for 17 minutes and it roasted them to perfection! This would actually probably work well with cauliflower & asparagus too.

Soft Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
I was craving peanut butter cookies so badly because I gave up chocolate for Lent and I needed something sweet and this was perfect! I've always loved peanut butter cookies but never was crazy about how crispy they were. These are nice and chewy and will keep me from going crazy by Easter!

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Great tasting and easy recipe. I added a touch of cinnamon and cooked the carrots in the microwave (short on time) but otherwise kept the recipe the same and they turned out great!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
These turned out well but I had to explain to my guests (inlaws) that I didn't burn the sprouts, they were supposed to look that way. But they were well received and everyone liked them, including me!

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
So good. So EASY! I used frozen strawberries and I am not a fan of chunks in my dessert sauces so I pureed the whole thing and served it over the New York Cheesecake recipe on this site. So unbelievably good! (did I say that already?)

Barbeque Pork Two Ways

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Yum! I did mine in the crock pot and did 1 cup ketchup and 1 cup bbq sauce and omitted the brown sugar since both have a lot of sugar in them. I cooked the whole shoulder and when it was done cooking, I shredded it with a fork, which was extremely easy to do. I made the onion rolls recipe from this site too and served my hubby the "best loose meat sandwiches of his life".
