I made this with a few changes -- use about 1 heaping Tablespoon of ketchup instead of stewed tomatoes and about 1/4 c. of juice from pineapple -- very good over rice ....

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2014
I did not like this dish -- but Husband did, so I gave it 3 stars. I made it, because of all the 5 star ratings?? I agree with some, who said there is too much ketchup flavor - maybe 1 T would be enough and more honey. I made double sauce like evreyone was saying, but it was too much! I wanted my shrimp to have more glazed appearance like the restaurants serve. I would do single sauce next time less ketchup more sweetner....if I make again! and it did not meet 5 stars in my opinion -disapointed!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2014
These are the best cookies!I used oj in place of water. I baked about 10 min and let rest 2 min., then I removed to cooling rack. I made an icing of confectionary sugar with OJ and drizzle tops- they were eaten quickly...I did not have to chill-they easily rolled into balls and then the sugar to bake on pan. Its a easy recipe and will make again.

Italian Wedding Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2014
this is delicous! I made today, because its a rainy day here. I have to say this>>it is the same recipe that is made by Jo marie in " Love letters" by Debbie Macomber ---I went to her web site and found the recipe. It has less pasta & I'm glad I use less -- 1/2 cup is enough. I used a mixture of greens, celery & fresh onion -browned my meatballs, then put in broth with all the other veg.I precooked the pasta in broth and added last and added 1 can of beef broth after reading all the reviews-- a new favorite to make again!

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2014
we liked iit-I think it could use more spices to up the flavor...maybe some bouillon some other herbs-I added more egg because I had 2 leftover egg yolks,so I added 1 egg, plus 2 yolks-- it might have changed the texture?- who knows? It sliced and held together very well. The quinoa made it more healthy. We are try to eat less red meat & more fish.I miss old favorites and this fits the bill. I will play around with more herbs--I used ketchup, brown suagr and mustard glazed on top--I will be making again.

Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2013
I have been making this exact same recipe for 13 years. Its my favorite holiday & for that special company breakfast dish. I love that it can be made ahead and it can sit over night. Everyone loves it & wants the recipe. I use more eggs per 13 by 9 pan and its not eggy at all. I wish my grocery stores carried bricohe bread, but they don't,so I use that extra thick french toast bread in pkg and works fine. I squeeeze the bread slices in and get about 8 in a pan over the syrup before I pour the egg liquid over the top. I use grand marnier & I use more than called for - its a keeper recipe for sure!

I did add about 2t. of lemon jucie, a capful of almond extract and 1/2 t. cinnamon. When I made my pie, I dotted the top with butter, than lattice pie crust-- a keeper!

Iced Tea II

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2013
Very good and It does taste like arnold palmer tea. I decreased sugar to 1/2 cup and we like a stonger tea taste, so I think I will use more tea bags ( I use red rose). I imagine any tea bag will work. Its easy to make and I plan on making this again.

Transformed Spinach Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2013
very good recipe- I also precooked the vegetables until spinach wilted and added some green pepper-- mixed it into egg mixture- used 5 eggs and a little more milk - some paprika sprinkled on top- also used coby cheese and feta. I had a roma tomato and sliced thinly on top - perfect! The crust never turned soggy, we are trying not to eat meat, so this is a keeper for us and I will make again.

Mincemeat Quick Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
This is a great recipe, as it is I'm sure, but I did not have enough mincemeat.(1 1/4 cups) I can't give it 5 stars because I had to add on to that 2nd cup-- which was dates and pumpkin puree. I also added 1T brandy,1 teasp each pumpkin spice and allspice..and some chopped walnuts - I baked it in 9x5 loaf pan 1 hour and it came out perfect! It tastes great too- yum!
