About this Cook
Originally from a small town in the south, I grew up a true country girl. You will never find me far away from my dogs, cats, and 8 pet chickens. I work for a non-profit avian rescue organization and in my spare time love to indulge my passion for country primitive decorating, painting, gardening.
My favorite things to cook
I love the challenge of adapting any recipe to vegan ingredients. I make a mean vegan pizza, homemade lentil soup, falafel, but am best know for my cakes, scones, candy, and pies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making my mother's homemade candy and cookie recipes for the holidays. Her fudge and chocolate covered cherries are to die for and I make them every Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph has been my homemade tomato gravy with all fresh ingredients from my garden. It took me quiet a few summers to get the taste just right. Now I can several dozen jars each summer and give them as gifts throughout the year. It's the right amount of fresh herbs, plus using roasted garlic that is really the key to a great red sauce.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to name. When I first started cooking I didn't even know that you had to boil the noodles before you make macaroni and cheese. Oh the follies of a 19 year old.

Never Fail Pie Crust III
I've been cooking for 30 years, and have never mastered the art of making pie crust until trying this recipe. It is melt in you mouth good, easy to make, and easily converted to vegan by using my favorite vegan margarine. A+++ I made this crust last night with the chocolate tofu pie filling. It was fabulous and my family had finished the pie for breakfast in less than an hour. On to another one today with the tofu and two for friends filled with a terrific vegan pumpkin filling.
