Easy Cheese and Ham Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
I fixed this for dinner tonight on a cold and snowy night. It hit the spot. I added additional onion and some dried parsley. I only had 1 pint of heavy cream so I used it, plus one can evaporated milk and regular milk to make 4 cups. This turned out very good. I let sit about 10 minutes with loose foil covering the pan before serving to let the liquid set up. The consistency turned out great. I will be making this again on another cold Indiana night. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Marinated Cherry Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
Great use of cherry tomatoes. The one change I made with this recipe was to use olive oil rather than vegetable oil. I made this up in the morning and stirred it several times during the day. By dinner time the tomatoes were well marinated and delicious. I will be making this again when my homegrown tomatoes are ready.

Onion Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
My family went nuts over this simple pasta. They were each calling 'dibs' on the leftovers for lunch. After reading the reviews, I did cut back on the olive oil (used 1/4 c) and butter (used 3 TB) and will do so the next time I make it also. There was more than enough oil to cook the onions. I used a one pound box of cut spaghetti to make this dish. We really liked the texture of that pasta with the onions. I served this with 'Easy Chicken Gyro' from AR and we had a delicious meal. The next time I am going to try this with fresh basil rather than dried. The leftovers were just as good as the night the dish was made. That is always a plus in my book.

Italian Pizzelles

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
A group of us were giving a bridal shower at school and decided on a sundae bar. I used my pizzelle maker to create 4 delicious flavors of ice cream bowls, made like waffle cones bowls, creating 105 bowls. This review is for the ‘Italian Pizzelles’ – chocolate flavored. The batter for this held up very well when making the bowls. It was a thicker batter and held the ice cream best. I got 29 cookies from this recipe and it took 40 seconds per batch. The other recipes were: ‘Pizzelles II’ ‘Pizzelles III’ and a personal recipe from ‘What’s for dinner, mom?.’

Balsamic Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
DELICIOUS! I knew I had to try this recipe after Deb C., Saveur631 and bellepepper reviewed this. I used fresh tomatoes and basil from our garden. I mixed up the tomato mixture about an hour before topping the bread to give the flavors time to meld. This recipe did not disappoint. It was a nice side to 'Tortellini Bacon Broccoli Salad' another recipe from AR. My family is looking forward to having this recipe again. Next time, I'm going to add some red/purple onion to the mix.

Rich Pumpkin Dessert

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
I made this dessert when my son came home from college. Pumpkin is one of his favorite, and this dessert did not disappoint. I used salted butter and we enjoyed the taste of the salty against the sweet. I used half the amount of pecans and toasted them, covering only half the dessert. This comes together quickly and we thought tasted even better the second day. Thanks piequeen1215 for sharing this dessert recipe.

Hot Ponderosas!

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2012
Grilled bread with lots of flavor. I wanted to use up some leftover hamburger buns, so that became the bread base for these Hot Ponderosas. I mixed up all the ingredients, but omitting the cheese. I dipped the buns, both sides, into the butter mixture and then grilled one side. Once my DH grilled one side, I flipped the bread over and added the cheese and grilled the bottom side. I made 2 pieces with bleu cheese for me, and topped the others with feta cheese for the rest of the family. Served these with 'Summertime Tomato Salad' and 'Roasted Beer Butt Lime Chicken', both AR recipes.

Curried Chicken Tea Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
Recipe Group Selection: 01, June 2013 ~ A delicious, filling summer sandwich. Family really enjoyed this chicken salad. I did omit the pecans so that my son would eat it. I served it on a multi-grain French bread and used fresh spinach leaves rather than lettuce as it is what I had on hand. I liked the added flavor that the fresh lime juice gave to the mayonnaise. I served this with a pasta salad and fresh fruit and it was so nice out today, we ate outside on the patio.

Pumpkin Cookies V

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Fantastic soft cookie with icing that sets up perfectly. I flash froze the cookies once the icing was on them. I served some, sent some to my college son and froze the remainder. I was worried what the frosting would do when they thawed, but it remained nice and smooth. I will be making this recipe again.

Maple-Balsamic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
Love the hint of maple in this balsamic salad dressing. Enough to flavor, but not overpower. I only made a half batch because i wanted it for just a few salads. I refrigerated the leftovers, but it turned very thick. When I let it come to room temp the consistency was pourable. After that I did not put back in the fridge and the dressing was fine. Thanks stefychefy for sharing your recipe.

Cauliflower Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2013
Looking for a way to use up a head of cauliflower, this recipe did not disappoint with my family. I had to use half sour cream and Greek yogurt because I ran out of sour cream. The flavors went really well together and my family gobbled it down. I also didn’t have corn flakes on hand so I subbed Panko™ for the cereal. I did opt to put the paprika on the top. We really enjoyed everything about this dish and it paired nicely with ‘Thai Quivering Tenderloins’ from AR. Another dish that I will be making again.

Waikiki Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2012
Sweet cornbread at its finest. I made this using all of the ingredients listed, plus adding 1/4 cup of leftover corn. I baked in a 10 1/2" cast iron skillet and it baked perfectly, golden brown all around. I did not have the dried out, crumbling problems other bakers appeared to have. It served up nicely in pie cut pieces and was a nice addition to 'Boilermaker Tailgate Chili', another AR recipe. I will be using this recipe again.

Picnic Sausage Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2013
Recipe Group Selection: 06, July 2013 ~ Delicious and very simple to put together. I used hot Italian sausage and pepper jack cheese because my family likes spicy foods. Browning the sausage took longer than it did to put this together and bake it. A great fast meal for when you want something home cooked on a busy evening. Serve with a salad and hot veggies or fruit and your meal is done. The ingredients are so flexible with this recipe. Different flavors of sausage and different cheeses will change this meal up. Great recipe, Veronica, thanks for sharing.

Maple Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2012
This is a great frosting to use on a spice cake. I used it on 'Festive Prune Cake' another AR recipe. I did not have regular cream, but I did have International Delight ™ Caramel Macchiato cream, so I used it. This is a very soft frosting, but so delicious. I think the next time I make this; I will use that flavor of cream again. I can see where this frosting would work on many flavors of cake; spice, banana, butter brickle, etc.

Bacon Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
Recipe Group Selection: 08, December 2012 ~ I fixed this for dinner for a DH who is NOT crazy about breakfast for dinner. I did add some yellow onion, red and yellow peppers along with the green onions. He liked it and ate two helpings, although he added that this would be awesome if I would serve it for breakfast where eggs belong! This baked up nicely in 25 minutes. I served this with 'Classic Hash Browns' for him and 'Sweet and Sassy Hash Browns' for me. Both are AR recipes. Thanks millie m m for sharing this recipe. I know I will be making this again..........for breakfast!

I made these for our Girls Night Out in June. Very easy to make and they set up nicely. The girls loved them and I came home with an empty pan. I think that is a great compliment to this recipe. I would make these again.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
I have wanted to try this recipe for quite some time. I finally made this along with 'Jay's Signature Pizza Crust' from AR. I made the sauce up in the morning, using my meat thermometer to reach the warm water temp of 110°. I then refrigerated the sauce all day and let it come to room temp before topping the pizza crust. My husband asked what brand of sauce I was using because he really liked it. I did not use the anchovy paste this time, but I will give it a try next time. I hear that it really adds a lot to the flavor with making it have a fishy smell/taste (my fear). This was the perfect amount of sauce to cover a large pizza. Thanks Angie Gorkoff for sharing your recipe.

Dirty Diapers

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
What a fun recipe for a baby shower. The food theme was Mexican, so I added taco seasoning to the meat to go along with the theme. These were enjoyed by all. I love how versatile this recipe can be by adding or changing the ingredients. My photo reflects un-baked and baked appetizers. Thanks Melanie K. for sharing your creative recipe. I have another baby shower next month and I will be making them again.
