Best Baked French Fries

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2012
Great French fry recipe. I made a half-batch for my DH and me and served them with 'Mom's Big Burgers', another AR recipe. The fries were the star of the meal. I liked the crispness of the fries, and I believe it comes from the sugar, so don't omit that ingredient. I never use the fryer in the house, so it will be nice to have homemade baked crispy fries during the cold Indiana winters. Thanks mmyers168 for sharing your "baked" version of French fries.

Baked Chicken Amandine

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
I made a half batch of this since there is only 2 of us. The change I made was to use fresh broccoli rather than frozen and my soup was fat-free. I just pre-cooked the broccoli in the microwave for 3 minutes before adding it to the casserole. The results: a nice, warm, filling meal that was loaded with flavor. This is very good - you should give it a try.

Baked Ham and Cheese Party Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
Great sandwich. I used 12 regular sized hawaiian rolls and made them up in the morning. Baked for dinner and they were delicious. I would suggest covering with foil for at least half of the baking time so that the bun doesn't dry out. Thanks Lisa T. for sharing this recipe. It will be great for summer get togethers and a filling dinner sandwich. My husband and son each ate 3 - they loved them.

Pesto Chicken Penne Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
Loved this pasta dish. It is nice and creamy and makes a lot. My 13 x 9 pan was filled to the brim. The only change I made was to use mini penne pasta because that is what I had on hand. The pesto, Alfredo and crushed tomatoes was a very nice combination and the spinach added the additional color that this needed for a good presentation. Make sure you add the bread crumb and Parmesan cheese topping as it really enhances the flavors. linda has provided a recipe that is sure to be a hit. Thank you!

Copia's Penne Pasta and Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
Recipe Group Selection: 10, September '11 Oh my..........this dish is delicious. The calorie/fat police are not going to like this one - but my husband and I LOVED it. I had to add 3 ounces of another shaped pasta because my penne was only a 13 oz. box. Other than that change I made as written. It was the first time I've used a shallot and panko bread crumbs. The texture is nice and creamy and loaded with flavor. Thanks rolo123 for sharing this one.

7-Up® Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2012
I have just recently discovered these delicious biscuits. I made with diet soda and fat-free sour cream, so quick and easy. I keep a can of soda on hand so I can quickly put this together for dinner. Thanks brighteyes_22 for sharing.

Clark Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
Oh my goodness are these delicious! They are also very easy to make and no baking required. I made exactly as written - but note the 16 ounces of graham crackers. A box is 14.5 oz. I added 4 full crackers from another package. These are very rich and a 13 x 9 pan makes for a thick, rich and sweet treat. The next time I'm going to use a bigger pan and have them not so thick. Be sure to grease your pan well and press the mixture in the pan so that it will meld together. I waited the 4 hours to cut them, the chocolate cut nice when it was cold and the sweetened condensed milk soften the hardness of the chips. Thanks mom2frankandy for sharing your recipe. I made these for a Girls Night Out and they were very well received. It will be made again.

Bacon Wrapped New Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
HAW - thank you for sharing this recipe. It is a great addition to any meat being cooked on the grill. I served these with the Recipe Group choice this week - Marinated Flank Steak with Peppers. These were so delicious - family loved them. And, they were easy to make. I put on metal skewers rather than the toothpicks. It worked great. Already thinking ahead to when I can make these again.

Jersey Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
Recipe Group Selection: 17, September '11. This was my first attempt at making homemade tomato soup. Wow - is this a great one to start with! The taste of the fresh tomatoes, carrots and onions totally come through with this soup. I used fresh chicken broth instead of canned and I only had 1% milk. Other than those 2 changes I made it as written. I made on Sunday, refrigerated it and we had for dinner on Monday night. Served with cheese toasties, this was the perfect meal on a cold and rainy day. Thanks SHORECOOK for sharing your recipe. RG made a wonderful selection this week.

Bacon Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
These deviled eggs were good, just different than what we are used to. The bacon was a great addition. The yoke was definitely better the longer the mixture set for the flavors to blend. I will try these again. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Pasta with Italian Sausage and Pumpkin Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2013
A very good and delicious twist to pasta. We played ‘guess the ingredient’ and my family never did guess the pumpkin in the sauce. I made the recipe as written, tried it on some pasta, and then added 2 ingredients. It was fine as written; I just knew my family would like a little spice. I added some red pepper flakes (1 T.) for a little zip and some fresh spinach for added veggies. I will make this again, although I will be using spicy Italian sausage, next time. We liked the addition of spinach, so I would use that again. My pasta was medium shells as that is what I had on hand. Thanks jmcnutt28 for this recipe, we enjoyed it.

Chicken Club Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2014
Recipe Group Selection: 22, March 2014 ~ Loved it! We liked everything about this salad. I used mini rotini pasta and I had Roma tomatoes on hand, that was my only substitution. I mixed everything up and let the ingredients marry for about 30 minutes before serving. The avocado adds a lot of flavor and texture to this salad, so don't be tempted to leave it out. We thought a little onion would add additional flavor to this salad. I served this with 'Biscuits with Blue Cheese' from AR and we had a delicious meal. Thanks, Lane J for sharing your recipe, it is a keeper.

Brookville Hotel Sweet and Sour Coleslaw

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
My family LOVES cole slaw. We like creamy kind, vinegar based, sweet slaws and this one! Looking for a faceless recipe for the ‘February 2013 Faceless Frenzy’ I found that I had this saved in my recipe box. I also had the personal version before it became published. I mixed the dressing up in the morning so the flavors could blend all day. I poured the dressing on about an hour before serving, and it is delicious. I used a blend of half cabbage and half broccoli slaw. The dressing is so good that my family commented that they would like it as a salad dressing. I liked that the leftovers didn’t get soggy and were great packed in lunches the next day. Elle, I’m thrilled to be the first to review and photograph your recipe. It most definitely will be made in this house, again and again. :o)

Sarah's Ambrosia Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2014
This has always been a favorite salad of mine. I made as written, but only added coconut to three-fourths of the salad and left the other fourth without for my coconut disliking guys. This recipe does make a very large bowl and it was good without getting watery for about 3 days. Just make sure you drain your fruit really well. I saved the juice from the fruit and used it to make gelatin. A delicious salad that will grace my table again.

Chipotle Ranch Dip

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
Yummy Ranch Dip with a spicy kick. I've had this recipe in my box for a while and finally made it. I've made it again since my first batch. Please note the recipe calls for "1 canned" chipotle pepper NOT 1 can of chipotle peppers as I almost did. The first batch I made as written using 1 pepper. The second time I added 2 1/2 peppers. I think my can must have been pretty mild as it took the 2 1/2 peppers to get the added kick to the dip. Although when I make it again with a new can, I will start with 1 pepper. It definitely gets a little warmer after it is refrigerated overnight. This dip is great and I know I will be making it many times over the summer. It was also VERY tasty on a baked potato. I like that it uses light mayo and sour cream. Thanks *Sherri* for sharing your recipe - it is a keeper.

Shrimp Quesadillas

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
Recipe Group Selection: 12, May 2012 I cut the recipe down to 2 servings and made these for my husband. He really enjoyed these, but added that next time he would like a little more heat by adding a bit more of the jalapeño pepper. I browned them on the electric griddle rather than the stovetop as I was also making 'Vegetable Quesadillas' from this site and wanted all of them done at the same time. I served these with 'Traditional Mexican Guacamole', salsa, sour cream and diced tomatoes.

Benny's Famous Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: May 2, 2012
Loved the corn added to the mixture for this popper. It gave the popper more substance and they were very filling. I used jalapeños and mini red, yellow and orange peppers for the people who couldn't take the heat from the jalapeños. Both types were very well received. I made as written and used turkey bacon to help cut calories. This will be made often this summer as grilling season starts. Thanks Bennyh614 for sharing your recipe.

Real Strawberry Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
I made this recipe the first time when it was a Personal Recipe (06-18-11). I've made it a couple of times since. Oh my gosh - you don't need a cupcake for this frosting you just need a spoon! This frosting has incredible strawberry taste. I made 66 mini white cupcakes and I had enough frosting to frost them all. Thank you Candice for creating this recipe. If you like strawberries you will love this frosting. It is MOST definitely a keeper!

Oven Baked Parsley Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2012
Nice, simple, delicious potato recipe. Who doesn't love potatoes and butter? I halved the recipe, but added extra onions and baked in the toaster oven. My potato-loving husband thought these were great. They were very good and a nice compliment to 'Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chips', another AR recipe. Thanks Suzanne for sharing your recipe, it is a keeper.

Broccoli Crunch Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
Another good broccoli salad. I made up the dressing in the morning so that it had a chance to meld all day before adding to the salad portion of the recipe. The only change I made was to use craisins instead of raisins as that is what I had on hand. This held up well as leftovers for lunch the next 2 days. Good leftovers are always appreicated in this house.
