Steamed Radishes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2014
Different. Hubs likes radishes, me, not so much. I was intrigued by this recipe and it didn't disappoint. I actually liked them better steamed than I did raw. By steaming, it took the bite out and actually had a slight sweet taste. I will make this again when we have our fresh garden radishes.

Avocado Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2014
This recipe was a great find. I loved the creaminess of the yolk and avocado mixture. The lime juice was also detectable, which we enjoyed. I only made 3 hard-boiled eggs and used all the yolks in the recipe. Yes, I did have extra filling, but I just finished it on a cracker or two. The one change I made was an optional item. Instead of the dash of hot sauce, I added a sprinkle of the cayenne pepper. Eggs were delish, and a definite keeper in this house. Thanks, thehealthyhousewife for sharing.

Cream Cheese Candies

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2014
Wow, wow, wow - is this a great little treat. I made this for our Girls Night Out this month, and everyone loved them! Three ingredients + 20 minutes and you are done. I added green food color as I wanted these for a pre-St. Patrick's Day treat. They truly just melt in your mouth. A great recipe that I will be making again.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2014
Rich, thick and delicious. This is a great recipe to use leftover ham. I did not measure the celery or the onion, and added chopped carrots. We actually liked this soup better the second day for lunches. It was a little thicker once it cooled down and was reheated. Thanks ELLIE11 for sharing your recipe.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2014
A very fudgy and chewy brownie, just the way my DH likes them. They are also very rich and chocolaty. I made as written and they were done in 35 minutes. I froze half a pan for lunches and they were just a good defrosted as they were eaten freshly baked. A very good recipe that I will be using again.

Mom's Awesome Guacamole

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2014
Made this for work, and they gobbled it up. Really liked the addition of the key lime juice and sour cream. This recipe comes together very quickly, and disappears just as quickly. Thanks Caty24 for sharing.

Homemade Veggie Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2014
Recipe Group Selection: 1, March 2014 ~ A nice different pizza crust. I made up the dough in the morning in my bread machine. After rising nicely in the fridge all day, we had to leave before I could prepare the pizza. I split the dough into 2 packages and froze them. I put one in the fridge today and let it re-rise all day. It rose again, very nicely. I did prebake the crust at 450° for 5 minutes before adding the toppings. For the sauce, I cut the oregano back to ¾ tablespoon and added 1 tablespoon sugar. We really liked the taste of the sauce with my adjustments. For the toppings we had: a mixture of mozzarella, sharp cheddar and Monterey jack cheese (3 partial pkgs. in the freezer); thin onion slices; red, orange and green pepper rings, cottage cheese, jalapeño rings, and fresh nasturtium leaves. We really enjoyed everything about this pizza. The crust had a nice crispness to it, and I’m wondering if that came from the egg. Good recipe selection this week. Thanks Bird for sharing your recipe.

Super Easy Mardi Gras King Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2014
What a fun and super easy way to brighten up a routine day at work or at school. I made 3 of these cakes for 'Fat Tuesday 2014'. My hubby took 1 to work and I took the other 2 to school. Everyone loved it! I used 2 cans of cinnamon rolls and 1 can of orange rolls. I separated the rolls, braided them and formed a ring. They baked at the 350° but they only took 17 minutes to bake. To frost, I used the icing packet that came with the rolls and added some 'Grocery Store Frosting' from AR to the mix and added food color gel. I hid a plastic baby in each cake before they were iced. I printed the story that goes along with the history behind the cake and warned people to look for the baby before eating their piece. A fun day that was enjoyed by all, and as easy as this was, I will surly make them again next year! Thanks, BUDDHAFULDREAMER for sharing your recipe.

Balsamic Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
Personal Recipe of: Saveur ~ Let me start by saying, "I am not a green bean lover or much of a liker for that matter". I LOVED these beans, Saveur! I made a half batch and the two of us ate them all. I think it was the balsamic vinegar that made me such a fan. I paired these with 'Pork Medallions with Balsamic Vinegar and Capers' and 'Cream Garlic and Onion Spaghetti' both from AR, and we had a terrific meal. Thanks for sharing your recipe and pointing it out on thebuzz. This recipe most definitely will be shared and made again.

Creamy Garlic and Onion Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
A very rich dish that my DH and I really enjoyed. I used cut spaghetti rather than regular length spaghetti and changed the heavy cream to half and half. I purchased a small single serve bottle of Chardonnay to make this dish. This dish was served with 'Pork Medallions with Balsamic Vinegar and Capers' from AR and 'Balsamic Green Beans' a personal recipe from AR. Dinner was very good, and I would make this recipe again.

Pork Medallions with Balsamic Vinegar and Capers

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
I have waited a long time to try this recipe because I was leery of the capers. I bought the capers about 6 months ago, and still didn't try it thinking they may taste like olives, which we don't care for. Well, I bit the bullet tonight and tried this recipe. Ha, I should not have waited so long. It turns out, my DH and I both liked the capers as they didn't taste like olives. I downsized the recipe using 2 pork loin chops and didn't measure my lemon zest. I just zested the lemon right over the pan. The sauce is really good with this recipe and I think next time, I might like it served with mashed potatoes. Thanks, Marianne for sharing your recipe. We enjoyed dinner tonight.

Tangy Buttermilk Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2014
Great bread for sandwiches. I made as the recipes states - let the bread machine do the hard part and form the dough in a loaf pan to bake. Really liked the texture of this bread. Next time I'm going to omit the cheese and just make a white bread.

Sriracha Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2014
Wow, is this a delicious bread! You don't really notice the tang of the Sriracha until after you have swallowed the bread. It has a really nice taste that pairs well with soups. I put all the ingredients in the bread machine on manual and formed a loaf when the dough was ready. My DH also enjoyed this bread toasted for his breakfast. A bread recipe worth repeating. Thanks BigShotsMom for sharing!

Sour Cream Brown Sugar Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2014
Personal Recipe of: Elle ~ I found this recipe when someone asked on 'thebuzz' for a simple coffeecake. I made a half batch, using a whole small egg and baked it in a 9" round cake pan. Elle, my family loved it. I left one slice without pecans for my son, but covered the rest without measuring. I took this out to my parents to have breakfast with them along with fresh fruit and 'Bagel and Cheese Bake' from AR. There was one piece left and my DH called "dibs" on last piece. I like that this is so quick and easy to pulled together. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Spiced Applesauce Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2014
Fantastic bread! I had some homemade chunky applesauce in the fridge, so I used it in this recipe. Because there was quite a bit of liquid, I just omitted the milk. This made 3 (6 x 3 1/2) beautiful and tasty small pans of bread. I love having small loaves of quick breads in the freezer for my family and for sharing. Thanks LOUISE for sharing your recipe. We loved it!

The Best Slow Cooker Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2014
I first made this as written, and while it is pretty healthy, it is also pretty bland. After cooking all day in the crockpot, I put it on the stovetop and added: onion slices, garlic, salt and pepper, a couple of shakes of lemon pepper. This added a lot more flavor. The can of potato soup was completely lost as there is a lot of liquid in this dish. I think if I were to make this again, I will just add fresh diced potatoes to the recipe. I served this with 'Spiced Applesauce Bread' from AR and fresh San Francisco Sourdough Bread.

Moist Cranberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2014
My family loves quick breads and this recipe was a huge hit. I had many bags of cranberries in the freezer and used one of them in this recipe. I just added the 2 cups to the batter in the frozen state. I baked them in four (6 x 3 1/2) small loaf pans rather than one big pan. This loaf is moist and packed with flavor. I found that this is a very good loaf to freeze and it thaws nicely. I will be making this one again.

Hot and Sour Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2014
Christina - this soup is WONDERFUL! It is also very easy to whip up. I made mine up earlier in the day and reheated when we were ready for it. I used low-sodium chicken broth and skipped the mushrooms, not fans of those! I picked up crunchies from our favorite Asian restaurant to add to the soup right before serving. I no longer have to stop at the restaurant and pick up Hot and Sour Soup for when I make Asian food at home. I will just quickly make up this recipe! Thanks Christina, for sharing this recipe. I've already passed the recipe on!

Easy Chicken Pasta Alfredo

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2014
Family really liked this dish, although I did sub green & red peppers for the mushrooms as we are not mushroom eaters. I had chicken in the freezer that I had diced and cooked. That worked great and helped me get the meal on the table, quickly. A nice use for tortellini. Thanks Lisa, for sharing your recipe.
