Alison's Slow Cooker Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2002
This soup was delicious. I used 3 cups of water instead of two and also omitted the salt. I used crushed tomatoes w/ basil instead of the tablespoon of basil and it was wonderful. Thanks for submitting. I will be using this again

Baked Haddock

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2007
Good basic recipe, I didn't have Thyme so I used dill which was very good. My husband said he could eat this three to four times a week. I cooked for 15 minutes on 500 as instructed and the fish was perfect. The only thing I would do different is I would spray the bottom of the pan with some pam or something prior to cooking as my fish stuck a little. Otherwise great recipe that can changed everytime it is used.

New Year Spinach Fettuccine with Scallops

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
Delicious!!! I used the ingredients according to recipe but changed the way I cooked it. Sauteed garlic than added spinach, put aside. Cooked scallops put in bowl with spinach. Made sauce with low fat soup and cup of white wine. Let cook down about 6 minutes, added scallops and spinach and pasta for last coupld of minutes of cooking. Served with sprinkle of parm cheese. Will make many more times.

Grilled Teriyaki Beer Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Pretty easy recipe.. I gave it four stars because I omitted all the salt and had to bake since we couldn't get the grill to start. The chicken was very moist and the marinade was pretty tasty but didn't penetrate the chicken like I thought it would. Would try again when it can be grilled.

Haddock Marinara

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2006
Recipe very tasty. I made a few changes just to suit my taste. I used diced tomatoes instead of stewed and only used about 1 cup of jarred sauce for the bottom and used a generous helping of italian seasoning on top of diced tomatoes. Did not use mozz. cheese just sprinkled a little parm. cheese after cooking. I used 1 1/2 pounds of Haddock and it was still alot of sauce. Very good base receipe can be doctored to fit anyone's taste.

Crab Stuffed Mushrooms I

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2002
Excellent recipe, the only change I plan on making is using italian flavored breadcrumbs instead of plan. Made these for my boyfriend who is not a big seafood fan and he loved them. Really easy. Thanks for submitting the receipe

Split Pea Soup without Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
Really good base recipe. I added more spices per other reviewers. Sauteed some garlic, onions, carrots and celery in olive oil. Than added the broth, water and split peas and it took about 3 hours to cook down. Good consistency if you just let it cook.

Easier Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
I would definitely make this again, but next time I would use fresh garlic, more mushrooms and absolutely double the sauce ingredients. I had just enough sauce to cover two breasts, so I have two leftover breast with very little sauce. Also, I thickened the sauce before putting the chicken back in, was a little too soupy for me. I cooked the chicken and mushrooms separately and than added back in once the sauce was bubbling. Otherwise, taste was exactly as I expected.

The only change I made to this recipe was I did not use an entire onion, I used about half. Other then that I followed the recipe exactly as written and I absolutely love it. I will be making this again. Thanks for submitting.

Storybook Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
This is the first time I made gingerbread cookies. I doubled the recipe and followed it exactly. Cooked 11 minutes at 350, and the cookies have a great texture and are nice and chewy. Good gingerbread flavor. Took one advice and rolled the dough out between parchment paper, made dough easy to work with.

I added lots of other veggies and a can of diced tomatos, but this recipe for me was a very good base recipe and very healthy.

Plum Tomato & Pesto Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2003
This receipe was excellent. I was going to a picnic and found this, everyone ate every last piece and it was extremely easy to make. I left out the olives but I may add them back in next time and I only needed 5 plum tomatos.

Molten Chocolate Cakes With Sugar-Coated Raspberries

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
Would give five stars but made a big change. I used batter as described but inserted a couple of pieces of cut up semi-sweet chocolate in middle prior to baking. But the cake surrounding the "lava" was excellent. Everyone who tried it loved them.. but with the update made it very rich. Cooked for about 11 minutes were perfectly cooked. No problem getting out of cupcake wrapper if sprayed or buttered. Would make again

Hot Spiked Cider

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
Only change I made was using three cups of cider instead of two to even out the rum per recommendations. I might use half cup of water and have cup of cider instead next time. But I will be making again.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
I had doubts while I was making this that it would turn out as good as the reviews stated. I was wrong, it is delicious!! I used less cilantro than suggested (just to my taste) put everything except tomatoes in food processor and chopped, put in a bowl and than added the diced tomatoes as recommended by another review mixed it all in the bowl and put back in processor and mixed it really fine (again to my taste). Very happy with result. I will definately make again and probably make some more changes but this is an excellent base recipe for salsa.
