Kielbasa Alfredo

Very good and easy. I used smoked sausage instead of polska kielbasa and used a four-cheese alfredo sauce. Also used olive oil instead of butter to fry the sausage. Very similar to stroganoff. Thanks for a winner!

Simple Spare Ribs

This recipe was very easy and tasted great! The meat was fork tender and the marinade/gravy was good over rice. We didn't have teriyaki sauce so we used soy sauce and about a tablespoon of brown sugar instead. Also, we used 1/8 cup of frozen onions instead of onion powder. We will DEFINATELY do this one again!! One extra tip: before inserting the pan into the oven, spray the sides of the pan with non-stick cooking spray. This made cleaning up the pan a breeze.

Slow Cooker Sweet and Tangy Chicken

We made the following changes to the recipe: Used cut fryer pieces instead of breast halves, used 1 1/2 bottles BBQ sauce (Kraft Honey BBQ), omitted the onion and bell pepper, substituted Garlic salt for the cloves, and only used half the pineapple juice. Also cooked it for 6 hours instead of 9. The chicken pieces came out juicy and thoroughly cooked, and while not spectacular, it was OK. Even though we reduced the liquids, the sauce was very thin and we think the pineapple chunks detracted from the sauce. Maybe crushed or tidbit pineapple next time. We served it over rice with sweet corn on the side. Not going to be in a hurry to make it again, but I've had worse.

Jicama Pie

We were given a Jicama by a hispanic friend, and had no idea how to prepare it. This was the only recipe we could find. It really turned out quite good. We didn't have sherry, so we substituted Marsallis wine instead. The only thing I would do differently is to use squeeze margarine instead of stick margarine pats on the top. In our pie, the margarine pooled together under the broiler, then hardened into solid chunks when the pie cooled.
