This was amazing. Just what I was looking for. We lived on the Oregon Coast all of our lives until recently moving to the Midwest. I have had trouble finding out how to make a good clam chowder base. Add clams to this recipe and you have an authentic clam chowder that can not be beat. And if you don't want clam chowder you can eat this just as the potato soup, it wont let you down. My only suggestion to others trying this recipe is be sure to get your bacon well done, not burnt but a little more crispy than you would normally like otherwise it will be rubbery in your soup. Other than that I can not preach how good this was. Thank you so much for sharing.
