Cornbread Sausage Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
Perfect! It was simple to make the night before and throw in the slow cooker to save oven space. This will be our standard stuffing recipe from now on. Even the people who "don't like stuffing" loved this stuffing!

Gummy Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
Being the only gummy option on this site makes this worth the try. I used regular strawberry jello (not sugar free) which may have made it a bit stickier than if the directions were followed. If you take this route, avoid using glass as it will glue itself to the plate. I let it set in a 9 by 9 Tupperware then cut it into strips. Be sure to have a SUPER sharp knife for this process. Normal steak knives will only make you frustrated, which also makes me think cookie cutters won't work either. The family votes that the thinner strips were the best, the thick ones did come off as rubbery. It was easier to work with while cold also, if you have a big batch, only take out what you are working with or it becomes difficult. The taste was perfect and the thin strips were as enjoyable as any store bought candy (if not more so!). FYI, this recipe does not have chemicals like store bought candies, it will need to be kept in the fridge or eaten in short order. If you do it right it wont be around long anyhow!

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
Great addition or snack time indulgence! Used bisquick and nearly a cup of cheese, added a dash of onion powder to the mix and covered in butter before, half way, and when done. Half way basting was mostly to ensure the bottoms were not burning. I added real crushed garlic and freeze dried chives to the butter. Made 8 for me. Family wants more of these now!

Austrian Jam Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2011
Good recipe and very pretty when the almonds are on the outside. I did a mix of jam, chocolate, and without filling at all. The chocolate was the least favorite, but still gone by the end of the night. I did not have a problem with the dough but did moisten my hands before working with it.

Spicy Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
Followed exactly as the recipe states and it was wonderful. Left out for the new years party and it was gone fast. The butterscotch and almonds make this recipe, I did not see a need to switch to white choco chips. It did not over power the pumpkin at all!

Oatmeal Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
Great base recipe. As others advised, I cooked for 8 mins as I like chewier cookies. All the kids took the mix and added their own goodies, including chocolate only, raisins, craisins/orange zest, and choco/coconut/almonds. No winner was declared and everyone had a blast. Cookies were gone too fast to testify as to how they store.

Ground Beef and Rice with Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
This was very tasty, but only because of recommended modifications. Ignore the 1:1 rice water unless you are using minuet rice. Seasoned the meat with 1/2 onion, 1/2 red bell pepper, 2 garlics and 2 celery. I added 8 oz of cream cheese and a small jar of con caso into the meat/rice/soup mix (layers did not seem practical). Added one can tomato bisque soup, one can stewed tomatoes, and a few diced jalapenos. Topped with just a bit of mild cheddar. Everyone in the family loved it!

Chunky Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
My boys were sure I could not sneak them a meatless meal without them noticing, and this is the recipe that won me the bet! Perfect for a cold winter day and doesn't need tweaking like so many other recipes (tho I used veggie broth, hey I had to win!). I think this would also be perfect to modify, make your own masterpiece!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
Very good, everyone loved these exactly as the recipe stated. I did not find the dough hard to work with however They did not "crack" like in the picture. In my opinion they came out a bit too soft (possibly under baked by following the exact time listed) but it did not stop my family from devouring them in one night.

Corned Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
Tasty, not one of the "healthier" meals I make. Came out good as a premade breakfast pie for the kids to heat up before school. Used celery, garlic pepper jack cheese and two eggs (personal preference). Will make again, but not as often as other breakfast pie recipes.
