About this Cook
I love to cook and had to be creative as I had 5 Children to please and I worked fulltime as an RN when they were still in school. These days I am a grandmother of 9 and also a Military Officers Widow. My husband and I loved to cook together in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make my own homemade spagetti sauce. Love to bake when the grandchildren are around. My grown children and their friends have nominated me #1 Chicken Wings Expert for Sweet&Sour Wings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family traditions for cooking was that during the holidays, everyone pitched in to help bring the massive feast together for all of us to enjoy. The Kids and I would pick a weekend before Christmas to make all the goodies up and place them on Christmas plates and hand out to neighbors and friends for the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
My latest triumph was to grill a Ribeye Steak on the grill to perfection slightly pink and Ohhhh so tender.... My other triumph was to try my husbands Prime Rib Rub and then cook my very first Prime Rib Dinner for Christmas.
My cooking tragedies
They all go to the grill... I burned up 3 out of 4 Ribeye Steaks this summer. What a waste..

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops
I just wanted to say... this is one of the best basting sauces, I have ever used. I don't care for regular BBQ Sauce unless it's on the sweet side. As the Powers above me kinda kept me busy with a half acre of lawns to mow and 3 cocker Spaniels to bath... I forgot to put my Pork Chops in to marinate... Then I found this recipe... YUM YUM....This is going to be a regular in my house hold when my grown children come to visit. The only thing I did differant and it is only because I didn't have any was, I substituted the half cup of Apple Juice for a 4 oz (1/2cup)Apple Sauce and then just added maybe a Tablespoon more of water. All these years of mixing flour and brown sugar to fry me some Pork Chops are Bye Bye now. This beats it Hands down and so much easier. I would also recommend this for any grilled chicken you might want to BBQ.. I can't wait to grill some Chicken breasts and give this another go... 5 STARS for a Fantastic Recipe...

Marinated Barbequed Vegetables
I plan on using this recipe with my out of town company this weekend. I just wanted to added a little tip I was taught about using Egg Plant. If you Cut it up in the slices and let it soak in Salt Water for 30 minutes it will draw out the bitterness. Then you can just rinse the Egg Plant off with Cold Water and you are ready to go.. I have never had any of my Egg Plant hold on to the Salt but it sure did take the awful Bitter Taste away. These Days when Green Tomatoes are not available, Egg Plant becomes my Fried Green Tomatoes. By using the Salt Water first before using my Egg Plant in a Recipe it's a Tasty Veggie because you can make it take on any taste you want after the bitterness is gone. I hope others will give the Egg Plant another Try with this recipe... I can't wait to try it on my grill this weekend. Happy Grilling!!
