Hi! This is my very first recipe on allrecipes, so I wanted something very basic. However, I tried some changes. I used 1 pound of whole wheat penne pasta instead of spaghetti because I wanted to go healthy and get whole wheat pasta, but I couldn't find whole wheat spaghetti that was 16 oz, it was all like 14.5 oz.! Also, I bought the Tyson cooked and cubed chicken in a bag. I used Campbell's Heathy Request soups. I added a can of mushrooms. I only used 3 tablespoons of butter instead of 4, and I used about 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. And. . .it was pretty good. But I learned that spaghetti or angel hair IS probably better because with the penne, the sauce didn't really stay on top of the pasta - it just as mixed together like a casserole. The already prepared chicken was good, and the sauce was good - Maybe just a little bit bland, like it needed an extra Tablespoon of butter and soup with more sodium! :) If I make it again, I will probably add some frozen vegetables in addition to the mushrooms. I also would leave off the cheese on top because I couldn't really taste it. Oh,and I tried to add Italian breadcrumbs on half as you may see in the picture, but I wouldn't do that again. It was too dry although maybe I'll crumble some cheezits on top!! Now that could be good! The leftovers were better the next day, so I think that it's good to let it settle and soak in the flavors. But next time I'll try to follow the recipe more closely- just add more stuff!!
