From other reviewers, I added 1/2 tsp salt, 2/3 c sugar, 1 whole egg, 1 tsp almond extract. Delicious. To stop spreading, I refrigerated them before rolling out and then also before cooking. I made a double batch and rolled some balls in shredded coconut (without making thumbprint), which looked and tasted wonderful; for the thumbprints I rolled some in sanding sugar, some in crushed pistachios and some dusted with icing sugar when warm. I also made some into Linzer cookies (rolled out dough, cut out crinkle rounds, cut the centres out 1/2 of the rounds, baked them, sprinkle with icing sugar, then spread jam on the whole cookie an top with the centreless cookie; these were beautiful but fussy to make and require alot of refrigerating to get a crisp edge. This morning I will be making some rolled in maple sugar and some filled with nutella. This is a great base recipe.
