Oatmeal Sourdough Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
This was my first time ever making sourdough, and I used 'no-commercial yeast starter' from this site, feeding it 12 hours before making these. I omitted the baking soda but kept the yeast because my starter didn't have any. Used 2 tbsp butter + 2 tbsp oil( 1/2 cup sounded like an awful lot). I also don't have a bread maker so I made it by hand, by proofing yeast, mixing in the wet ingredients, then the dry and kneading for 5 min. Then I let rise for 1.5 hours and followed the rest of the recipe from there. They have a fabulous texture and light flavor...HOWEVER... I have to knock a star down because I could barely taste the sourdough flavor, and it is supposed to be a sourdough bread.

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
Yum... delish!!! I used some cornmeal for AP, onion powder, garlic, and reduced sugar to 1/4 cup( used 2 TB to proof and added rest later). The first rise about tripled in size with all the yeast, I was surprised! Shaped into buns, baked nicely. Thanks for sharing, I'll make again!

Cheddar Tomato Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
This was okay, but the dumplings sort of turned into mushy goo towards the end. I used one 14.5 oz. can of tomatoes, half a jar of tomato sauce, and a bit of salsa. I also added oregano, basil, garlic powder, dried onion instead of fresh, and more pepper. I think I'd change the ratio to more tomato and less dumplings if if I make it again. Interesting though, I like the idea.

Banana Nut Yeast Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
So, I made this the other day, and while the taste was delicious, it was extremely crumbly. Now, this may be in part to some of the changes I made, so I'm not blaming the recipe :) First I halved the recipe ( just to test it out) and used an extra third cup of banana since some of the reviewers complained about the lack of taste. I then added 1.5 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla extracts, 1 tsp nutmeg, and used brown sugar for white for half the recipe. If I make again, I'll add even more for flavoring. I suggest NOT TO FILL THE PANS MORE THAN HALF WAY FULL!! This may be just me, but I filled them halfway (I was using different sized pans) and while it was rising and baking they overflowed! Overall, I love the taste, thanks for sharing, I will use this as a guideline.

Easy Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
Delicious! I made half the recipe and made my own baking mix ( 1/3 cup flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp sugar) although I did have some leftover mix from that... I also only used 3/4 cup milk, and used only cheddar bc thats what I had, and sauteed the broccoli in garlic. I Also only had deli ham slices instead of cubed ham. Half the recipe fit nicely in one 9 in pie dish. It was great and sooo easy thanks for the recipe!!!

Cornish Splits

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
These were delicious, just like the sort of roll you'd get at a bakery! Like the other reviewers I upped the salt to 1 tsp and they were perfect. I added some basil, oregano, parsley, garlic powder and onion powder just for some more flavor. I didn't measure, but I'd guess it was about 1/4 to 1/2 tsp each. Baked in an 8x8 pan, because thats what I had. Really really yummy, Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely be making again!!!

Carrot Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
Yum, these were good, though they kept falling apart and were hard to cook. I didnt have any cornflakes on hand, so I used 2 cups of bread crumbs, which I ground in the blender. I also used garlic salt instead of salt, and skipped the celery since I didnt have any. Overall, great, I will make again.

Turkey Tetrazzini II

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
Mmmmmm I made this for dinner and it was delicious! I used turkey stock instead of broth, and it turned out great. I also followed some other reviewers advice and sauteed celery and garlic in oil and added it in. I didnt end up using all the sauce for some reason, and next time I think I'll make less. Overall, it was great thanks for posting!!!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
I just made this, and it was great. Thanks a lot for posting this! I didn't end up using all the sauce, I had a bunch left over- not sure what happened, they were completely coated. I also added some extra grated cheddar on the top, which was good.

Chocopeanutbanana Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
Hm... This was... Interesting. I was stuck between 3 and 4 stars, but decided on 4 anyways. If I make this again, I think I'd reduce the peanut butter and add vanilla. Make sure you freeze the banana and milk beforehand for about an hour also, like the others suggested so you dont have a warm fizzy shake.
