Bill's Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2002
I made this dip for my husband and myself, and nearly fainted when my 6 and 2 year old boys wouldn't stop eating it! Wonderful! Will make this again, and again!

Chicken With Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2002
This really was delicious. Next time I would double the mushrooms (I used cremini, shiitake and portobellos), because they really shrink down and we love mushrooms. Will definitely make this again!

Blue Cheese Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2002
Delicious! I marinated the meat all day, so it would really be flavourful. The could have cut the meat with a spoon! The sauce was delicious, and because we love blue cheese, we didn't find it overpowering at all. We served it with horseradish mashed postatoes, and pan fried asparagus. It was the best meal I've made!

Harvest Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2002
This was really delicious. I also used olive oil, rather than walnut oil, and it was very tasty. My husband said that the cranberries were too sweet for him, so I'll probably leave them out next time. I look forward to making this in the summer!

Baked Ziti IV

Reviewed: May 11, 2002
This was fantastic! I found it very easy to prepare, and was thrilled with the results. I also used ricotta, rather than cottage cheese and we all just loved it. This will be one recipe that I will make over and over again.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: May 12, 2002
These pancakes were outstanding! Light, fluffy and not too sweet. I added blueberries to mine, and my family gobbled up the entire batch. This will be my regular recipe.

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2002
I thought this was ok. I found the sauce watery at the end, so I drained some of it (along with the fat), and added a new bottle of sauce for the last hour. I also added some sautéed onions. Kids weren't thrilled with it, but my husband enjoyed it.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2002
I am so glad that I tried this! The chicken smelled heavenly while cooking, and turned out so moist inside, and made a delicious, crispy skin. My 2 yr old son gobbled it up, and my 6 yr old son asked for seconds! They are the pickiest eaters I know, so I was thrilled. The whole family is requesting it again!

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2002
My family loved this recipe! Well, my 6 yr old liked it, but that's a huge thing in this household. I took the advice of another reviewer, and used french fried onions as a topping, rather than the cornflakes. It was a hit.

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2002
This recipe was ok. My family enjoyed well enough, but I found it a tad bland. I added sliced mushrooms and left out the sour cream. It was very easy, but I don't know that I'd make it again.

Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2002
This was a nice comfort meal, and I suspect it will be very nice during the cold weather. I added shredded sharp cheddar to the mashed potatoes, and then sprinkled some on top before baking. I also added some Worcestire sauce to the ground beef, for a little more flavour. The family enjoyed it.

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2002
This was really tasty. I also saved some time, and bought frozen chicken meatballs (which also cut down on fat). I served them over brown rice, and it was very filling. I'll be making these again.

Cheese Herb Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2002
A really delicious bread. I used fresh milk rather than the dry milk powder, and went with another reviewer's suggestion and used 3 tsp of Italian seasonings. It smelled wonderful when baking, and tasted great!

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2002
Thank you Mary! This was the most wonderful soup I've ever made! I used the prepared chicken broth, which cut down on preparation. I also wanted to cut down on the fat, so I used about 3 oz of cream cheese, and 1½ cups of low fat cream. I think next time I'll even leave the cream cheese out altogether. The flavour was outstanding and the texture was perfect. My 2 yr old even loved it. This will definitely be a recipe that my family will continue seeing at the dinner table in the years to come.

Jewish Apple Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2002
I don't know what I could have done wrong, but this cake was not what I expected. I found it too heavy and a little on the dry side. My husband liked it, but he was pretty much the only one. I don't think I'll be trying this again.

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2002
This was even better than I had expected. I used some of the other reviewers' suggestions. I used 2½ cups of low sodium chicken broth, ½ cup of white wine, sliced carrots, garlic and onions. Next time I might add sliced mushrooms and diced potatoes. My family just loved this! It was very filling, and I plan on making this on several cold, winter nights this year. Wonderful recipe!

Cheesy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2002
This was a very moist, flavourful meatloaf. I didn't have a loaf pan, so I just made the loaf and placed it in a casserole dish. I also threw in a little butter and water, and used it to baste throughout the cooking time. Next time, I might use a different cheese, as mozzarella is a little on the bland side. My family enjoyed this meal.

Cinnamon Chip Applesauce Coffeecake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2002
If you like cinnamon, this is the cake for you! Very easy to make, and turned out moist and wonderful. I used homestyle applesauce with brown sugar and cinnamon, and it tasted great. I didn't bother with the glaze, since I wanted something I could pack in my son's lunch. Frankly, I don't think it needs it, since the glaze might make it a tad too sweet. After tasting it, my husband declared, 'I'm so glad I married you!' I guess this one's a keeper.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2002
I've tried this recipe several times, and really enjoyed it. Today, I had to improvise, because I didn't have most of the ingredients. So, I used cubed beef, a package of onion soup mix, sliced mushrooms, and at the end I stirred in 8oz of sour cream. It was even tastier, and easier!
