My sister told me a recipe this morning I must try!  I love shrimp and grits and, although I am from Louisiana, I have never had them together.  It sounds delicious.  Just saute shrimp, onion, and garlic in butter.  Cook grits, add cheese and stir until cheese melts and serve shrimp on top.  Gotta love it!!!!!

I'm from Atlanta and OMG we LOVE grits in Ga! Shrimp, fried fish, and fried salmon patties with homemade biscuits are a staple in our home!

This must be a southern thing my nanny ( gramma) made these for us all the time. She passed this down to my mom and I've done the same for my kids. Everyone who tries them can't believe whats in them.

About Me
I am a homeschooling mother of three. My oldest graduated in 2012 & my other two will graduate in the next two years! Time is flying by and I have yet to figure out how to keep my life organized...maybe one day.
My favorite things to cook
Cajun cuisine is my favorite. Growing up in Louisiana has made me partial to the seafood and fried foods. Desserts are my specialty. I like to cook for crowds and love to serve people. I enjoy hosting all kinds of parties-tea parties with finger foods and bar-b-Ques with bon fires.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Love boiling crawfish with the family!
My cooking triumphs
Making gravy! For years after I was married I tried gravy every way I was told and it never worked. It was mostly like dumplings it was so lumpy. One day I met a lady who told me the simplest solution. "All you do is add the same amount of oil as flour and brown the flour then add your liquid." Been doing it for many moons now...
My cooking tragedies
One September day I was in the kitchen getting ready for supper. I had started the flour and oil for gravy and left the room-and forgot! I heard crackling and popping and ran into the kitchen to find the stove, microwave above, and cabinets engulfed in flames. I screamed to my children to get their father while I began to spray the fire with the fire extinguisher. The fire was put out and the damage was done. We had to redo only a couple of cabinets, paint the ceiling, and get a new range and microwave. Thank God it was minimal damage! My father sells fire extinguishers and he had just given us that one...I will never be without an extinguisher and I will never walk out of the kitchen while cooking.
