About this Cook
I'm a working mom that's been married for 24 years. I have 2 sons at home still, and recently Grampa has moved in. He has a does my oldest son, so I could be feeding anywhere from 2-7 people per night.
My favorite things to cook
I like to garden, and can my own homemade spaghetti sauce. Usually around 40-50 quarts per year. Recently was given a recipe from a friend for hot pepper mustard which I canned, and another friend gave me a recipe for hot pepper dog sauce. I guess you could say I love to collect and try new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm a soup maker....and my homemade soup is often requested by friends. There is nothing better than sitting around the table with family and friends, a big bowl of steaming soup, homemade bread and peanut butter. (YES....never forget the peanut's a staple). I make a lot of recipes that I grew up with, but also love to try new recipes. My family is used to it now. We rate them as keepers...or lets not have this again.~LOL!
My cooking triumphs
My first turkey dinner. Trying to manage to get everything on the table hot, and when I was successful I was so happy. Other than that, I'm most proud of the fact that I can throw things together, and come up with some wonderful soup.
My cooking tragedies
quite a don't get to be my age without a few. A roast cooked so hard even the dog wouldn't eat it.....pumpkin pie so sweet it made your teeth hurt...those are a few I remember.

Cornbread Biscotti
garlicky crunchy goodness....this was a perfect way for me to use up some cornbread that was leftover. We needed a little more garlic, so I made some the way the recipe was written, and then I added some minced garlic to the top of the rest that hadn't been eaten. Good stuff~definately try this recipe...I'm glad I did. Thanks HappyGrandma:)

Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts I
I made this for our girls cookie party..and it was a big hit~! The hardest part was wrapping the bacon, and I had to cut some of my water chestnuts in half., but it was delicious~!! My only change was i drizzles a little barbie sauce over them the last 5 minutes of baking. YUM~!

Heavenly Hash
I've not tried this yet...but this is my Aunt Mae's recipe that she passed down to me. Yes~! I'm so glad to see it here. Instead of Pineapple..she would use peaches..or even a can of mixed fruit.
