Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
I also thought this was really good - made exactly as specified, although I added salt (My broth was no fat, no sodium and I definitely thought salt was needed!) I also pureed about half the soup and returned to the crockpot to cook for about another hour. Topped with a sprinkling of shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream and homemade cornbread on the side. YUM! It was a TOUCH spicy for me, but I a wimp - my husband thought it was perfect.

Chicken with Garlic, Basil, and Parsley

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
I thought this recipe was awesome - and S-I-M-P-L-E. The only thing I changed was to drizzle the chicken with balsamic vinaigrette like someone else suggested and to use fresh basil because I adore it. I paired it with roasted red potatoes and a salad - DELISH.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
I'm clearly in the minority here - but I did not care for these. Like a previous reviewer said...these were SO dry. Not spicy at all - not sure what I did wrong, because the entire recipe was followed to a "t". I was expecting a juicy black bean burger with a kick, like you get in a restaurant. Not even close. So disappointing.

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
This was my first time making donuts, and the recipe was pretty easy to follow. I made sure to be EXACT on temperatures of both the warm water, the milk and the oil for frying. Everything worked out beautifully - I just think I fried them a little too long perhaps. They weren't as light and fluffy inside as I thought they might be.

Buckeyes I

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Easy and delicious! I also cut down the confectioners sugar to about 4 1/2 cups - the balls are probably a little softer and messier to roll this way but it's a good amount of sweetness. These are a huge hit!

Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
This was the easiest and yummiest recipe! I took the advice of other reviewers and left the oil out. After the chocolate layer was poured, I added the crushed candies and really pushed them in good, then popped in the freezer while I made the white chocolate. After the white chocolate was melted, I added the remaining candies directly to the chocolate and poured slowly on top of the bottom layer. I spread the white layer very slowly so as not to get the muddy effect some others have mentioned. It turned out great! No muddying, no separating and it is DELICIOUS!

Sugar Cookie Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Easy recipe to work with and easy to make! I tripled the recipe just to make sure I had plenty, and added some almond extract. I also used milk instead of water, and my cookies came out fantastic!

Brazilian Coffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
I made a few adjustments in this recipe based on some other suggestions - I used freshly ground coffee (about 3-4 Tblsp) and I used 1 tsp of vanilla and about 2 tsp of coffee extract. The coffee flavor is great, the cookies cooked well and they are soft and chewy.
