I'm originally from the Chicago suburbs and used to work in downtown Chicago. I recently just finished my first year of law school at SIU Carbondale, so I'm living down there for the next two years, minus summers. :)

I love experimenting with new ways to make simple pasta dishes, chilis, and on a quest to find the perfect way to fry tofu!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a multi-racial family, my dad is from Japan and my mom is Irish-American so I was raised on a lot of asian cuisine (Japanese primarily, but also Indian and Chinese), as well as traditional American dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I made the perfect Tira Misu for my friend's husband's 30th birthday party and it turned out perfect! Nothing but compliments. It was his favorite dessert and wanted it for his party and he later told me it was one of the best tira misus he's ever tasted!!!!
My cooking tragedies
Yesterday's rice krispie treats, made with Cheerios instead. I burnt the marshmallow/butter mixture the Cheerios ended up being stale. yuck.
