About this Cook
I'm originally from the Chicago suburbs and used to work in downtown Chicago. I recently just finished my first year of law school at SIU Carbondale, so I'm living down there for the next two years, minus summers. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love experimenting with new ways to make simple pasta dishes, chilis, and on a quest to find the perfect way to fry tofu!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a multi-racial family, my dad is from Japan and my mom is Irish-American so I was raised on a lot of asian cuisine (Japanese primarily, but also Indian and Chinese), as well as traditional American dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I made the perfect Tira Misu for my friend's husband's 30th birthday party and it turned out perfect! Nothing but compliments. It was his favorite dessert and wanted it for his party and he later told me it was one of the best tira misus he's ever tasted!!!!
My cooking tragedies
Yesterday's rice krispie treats, made with Cheerios instead. I burnt the marshmallow/butter mixture the Cheerios ended up being stale. yuck.

Apple Crisp IV
This is very good. I gave it four stars because I did take a few suggestions from the other reviews. I cut the flour by 1/2 cup, used only 1 cup of butter and one cup of sugar...I just felt like 1 1/2 cups of sugar was way too much. I used 5 green apples to balance out the amount of crisp this recipe yields. I also tossed the apples in lemon juice and sprinkled white sugar on them before putting them in the pan. It turned out well, the crisp was crisp and the apples were tender and juicy. Overall, very yummy!!!!

Onion Quiche
Very good and simple recipe. I followed some other suggestions and added leeks, instead of onions, and some potato cubes. I used 4 eggs instead of 3. Good took only minutes to prepare and 30 to cook!! :)

Summer Vegetarian Chili
This recipe is SOOOO good!! So many fresh vegetables, this is a MUST TRY! I added a can of light kidney beans and used 2 peppers, cuz I love em. I also added a good bottle of beer after I sauted the peppers and onions, I think it always adds great flavor to chili.
