My favorite family cooking traditions
For Christmas I make a giant (16 quart) pot of my grandmother's spaghetti sauce along with my father's awesome chicken parmigiana, lasanga with homemade noodles, homemade pastas and (starting this year) homemade bread.

The Best Meatballs
My fiance came home with a pound of ground beef requesting fried meatballs. I've been trying to find a recipe like his grandmother's for the last decade with little success and decided to try this one. I didn't have fresh parsley, garlic or breadcrumbs on hand and subbed store bought versions. I fried them on med-low then finished them on medium to get the outside extra crispy. My fiance and our kids loved them (I'm vegetarian) and it is the closest I have come to Ma's elusive meatballs! This recipe is going in my cookbook - I'm sure they'll be even better with fresh ingredients next time. Thank you!

Honey Whole Wheat Bread
This is the first loaf of bread I made in my breadmaker. We regularly purchase honey wheat bread so when I recieved a breadmaker as an early Christmas gift the first request from my fiance was honey wheat. The bread is delicious (tastes almost exactly like the store bought that my family loves but is so much fresher and softer), and my fiance and kids love it! I'll probably add more honey and salt for a bolder taste as other reviewers suggested the next time. The serving size is a little off and the recipe makes a 1.75 pound loaf instead of a 1 pound loaf. I doubled the recipe to make a 2 pound loaf (the biggest size my breadmaker accommodates) but the dough overflowed from the top of the pan while it was rising so I split it in half which yielded two almost 2 pound loaves of bread.
