About this Cook
I have a fabric dyeing and quilt block business. My husband makes tie-dyed clothing. We have 2 dogs and 5 cats, but no children. I love to read especially mysteries.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make soups and breads. Nothing more comforting than a big bowl of soup.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When ever I go home, my grandmother makes her meatloaf. Another thing that comes to mind that my aunt started was mashing a few carrots into turnips. This is something I still do.
My cooking triumphs
I made my first cheesecake this week. It cracked a little, but was delicious otherwise. I've also made several souffles.
My cooking tragedies
to many to name, but the one that really comes to mind was a casserole. I was about 14 living with relatives. I found this recipe that included hot dogs, cream corn and tater tots (yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either). Let's just say no one wanted hot dogs for quite some time.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup
sorry--this was just plain BAD! I made the recipe exact except used frozen corn--I don't used canned veggies. way too salty and the ranch gave it a weird taste. glad I scaled this down; it was a real waste of money (around $12 totally wasted).

Chicken Tikka Masala
I used about 1/3 the amount of salt listed and it was perfect for us.

Queenie's Killer Tomato Bagel Sandwich
I grew up eating tomato sandwiches in the summer. we'd get the tomato fresh from Nana's garden. A little mayo and salt and lots of pepper. YUM! Had to try this and is really good--just a nice variation of Nana's. To those reviewers that that say Meh. It wasn't great. WHAT did you expect. The ingredients weren't going to combine into some UBER flavor!
