Chocolate Covered Peppermint Patties

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
These were really good! Just like York peppermit patties! I made them twice; once for a Christmas party and the other for neighbor Christmas gifts. Both times I added a little green food coloring. Also, when I shaped them I rolled them into a ball and then used a heavy glass dusted in powered sugar to flaten them to give them a more even look. I then freezes them until I was ready to covered them in chocolate and I ended up needing to double the amount of chocolate.

Papa Drexler's Bavarian Pretzels

Wow! These were really good! I grew up in Germany and loved the pretzels there, and these pretzels tasted like I was back there in Bavaria! I followed the recipe exactly and I highly recommend them!

Chicken Broth in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
I have made this a few times and it is an easy way to make healthy chicken broth. After doing a little bit of research, I have done a couple things differently. First, let you chicken carcass (I fix a roasted chicken an then we eat it and I just use the bones) sit in 6 COLD cups of water with 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar, this helps draw the nutrients and minerals out of the bones. Also, I don't bother to do much chopping of the vegetables since they will be strained out. I cook on low for 12-24 hours. Then I put in the fridge to cool and then I divide into bags to freeze for later use.

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
I was disappointed in this. I followed the suggestions of previous posters, less water, oyster sauce, halved the ginger. But the ginger was still too powerful and did not much resemble take out. My husband said it was okay, but not to add it to the rotation.

Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
Very good idea to add bacon and cheese! I just made these for a cookout tonight, and I have already eaten 2. I am sure they will go over well tonight! I didn't really measure, I just added the ingredients until it "looked right" and also added a splash of vinegar and garnished with paprika.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Great cookie! I made them according to the recipe, the only thing differently I did was used two sticks of butter and two sticks of margarine (that is what I had). Easy and Delicious!

Bread Sticks

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2006
I made this today for a ladies luncheon at church. I got lots of compliments on them! I did do a couple things differently than stated. I didn't cut the rolls in half, they just seemed that would make them too thin (maybe it was the kind I got) and then I put an egg wash and poppyseeds on 8, eggwash and seasame seeds on another 8, and then butter and parmesan cheese on the last 8 to have a variety. They didn't turn out really long like normal breadsticks, more like oblong rolls, but I thought they still looked good!

Oreo™ Cookie Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
I just finished making these for gifts! Very easy to make! I just used a regular cookie sheet as opposed to a jelly roll sheet and it was fine. I also sifted the oreos like a previous reviewer suggested. My husband just had a taste and said it was excellent and wanted to know if I made extra for him! I can't wait to give these out!

Bacon Roll Ups II

Big hit at the party! I made them super quick, so I didn't add any extra seasoning. I didn't use toothpicks, they held together fine without them.

This was okay. I didn't have cream of mushroom soup, so I used cream of chicken, so maybe that was it. I will probably not make this again.

This was okay. It turned out really dry and needed some kind of gravy to go along with it. The preparation, however, was very easy.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2005
Very good! I put whole frozen chicken breasts in the crockpot with the butter and dressing, waited about 15-30 minutes and then cut them up when they had a chance to defrost. I then added the soup and a little cooking wine and let that cook all day. When I added the cream cheese, I also added about 1/2 can of chicken broth, since it was pretty thick. Served over egg noodles. Husband also enjoyed it. Will make again!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

I made this for a group of girlfriends for lunch, served with a quiche, and they loved it! It is a great summer salad and easy to prepare. I made the dressing that morning, so it sat alot longer than an hour. I forgot to add the almonds, but it still was great!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: May 13, 2005
I made these this afternoon and they turned out great! I used semi sweet chocolate instead of milk chocolate. I also rolled a few in crushed hazelnuts, and if I would of had mini chocolate chips, I would of tried to roll some in those too. I used swekers and a stryofoam brick, but be careful to distribute them evenly becuase I didn't on one brick and knocked it over and ruined a few strawberries, whoops! Everyone is also impressed with these!
