Blue Ribbon Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
Very good! I was a little scared because of the oil and butter, but they turned out great. Very light and tender. Not too sweet. I didn't have lemon extract, so as another poster suggested, I added 1T lemon juice. They were delicious. Will definitely use again.

This is so good! I actually whipped cream to use instead of the cool whip and sweetened it with Splenda.

Lemon Cooler Cream Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2006
Taste like something a kid would make in Home Ec class to me. It wasn't nasty, just not something that was worth the calories to me.

Lemon Glazed Cake

Really good and lemony. I made it in a Bundt pan instead of the 9X13 and it came out fine.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
This cookie baked up beautifully with a very nice texture (soft inside). However, the taste was very bland. I sprinkled sugar & cinnamon on the top, but it was still missing something. I actually think it would be better if a little salt (maybe 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon) were added.

Aunt Nancy's Grape Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2004
I used 8 oz of heavy cream that I whipped with Equal instead of the Cool Whip. I also used drained Mandarin oranges instead of the grapes. It came out delicious and low carb since cream, Equal, & Cream Cheese are very low in carbs. Next time I will add pecans as well.

Valerie's Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2004
I did not use any powdered sugar in this recipe. I also substituted sugar-free pudding for the regular pudding and substituted half&half for the milk. It came out really tasty and with my adjustments with a lot less carbs than the original recipe. I have no idea why sugar is in the recipe..... it is perfectly delicious without it!

Best Ever Meatloaf I

Reviewed: May 2, 2004
Pretty good. I added some garlic powder and dry onion soup mix instead of the fresh onion and salt. I also topped with a mixture of ketchup, brown sugar, worcesteshire sauce and a touch of mustard... no exact measurements, just mixed until I was satisifed with taste. I think that the recipe as it is written may be a little plain and needs enhancements.

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2004
I made this for it's low carb value. It was ok but nothing special. Be prepared to cook it longer than recipe suggests. Also, if I made it again, I would substitute onion for some of the peppers. I seasoned my ground beef with garlic powder and seasoning salt, but the recipe still needed more salt or soy sauce.

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2004
I made this cake for Easter and it was delicious. I reduced the oil a bit, but I'm not sure it was necessary. Cake was very moist. I did not use the icing as it sounded a little rich. I made a frosting out of cream cheese, cream, and conf. sugar. Next time I will try the icing in the recipe.

Million Dollar Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2004
This cake was good, but not fantastic. Basically just a box cake mix with cream cheese & fruit frosting. Nothing special. A good easy cake for maybe a child's party.

Different Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2004
This was awful! I really don't understand all the 5 star ratings. It was salty and strong. Would have probably been much better without so much curry. I kept rereading the recipe to make sure I had prepared it correctly. Ruined my Sunday dinner. I would definitely not recommend this recipe.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2004
Oh my goodness!! This is the best roast chicken I've had. I actually used only one 5 lb chicken, but used almost all the seasonings. I also added some Accent to the mixture. Marinated it all night and then put in in the oven in the morning before church and enjoyed a wonderful meal when I returned. It was tender, very flavorful, and juicy. Will definitely make again. Update -- I made this for Christmas dinner and it was a huge hit. My granddaughter said it was the best chicken she ever ate. My DIL who usually eats like a bird went back for seconds.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2003
Ribs were very tender, but tast was just ok. I wouldn't use the oregano again. It made it taste like an Italian dish instead of BBQ! I seasoned my meat first with seasoning salt, garlic powder, pepper, chili powder, and a little of the brown sugar. I used a little commercial BBQ sauce instead of all the ketchup. I wish I had used more because the sauce had a strong Ketchup taste! I also added a couple teaspoons of liquid smoke to give it more of a BBQ taste.

No Bake Sugar Free Cheese Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2003
If you're on restricted diet, this is a pretty good recipe. I used 2, 8 oz pkgs of cream cheese instead of 1. That gave it a creamier texture and better taste, but I also had to add a little sugar substitute to taste. For the crust I substituted 1 C of finely chopped walnuts mixed with 2T melted butter and 1/2 t cinnamon and sugar subsitute to taste.

Taco Bake I

This was pretty good. I browned onions with the ground beef and added black olives and a can of chiles. I served with sour cream and tortilla chips. It was a quick easy recipe which I will probably make again.

Tangy Sliced Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2003
This recipe was ok, but I probably won't use it again. The sauce was a little too buttery for me, so I would suggest using a little less butter. I agree with other reviewer who said a bottle of commercial barbecue sauce would be better.
