Chef John's Irish Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2015
Absolutely delicious.. Couldn't have been happier with the way it turned out. I all-way like to made the recipe once as written, the way the chef did it. But I love it wend someone do the recipe with alterations, I too can't leave anything alone! I have to play with my food. You did adjusted it to your personal taste that what I like, to see what others have did to any improvements and/or variations you make to this simple recipe. I use 3 pounds lamb shoulder chops a little extra garlic but otherwise made as-is. I did read one review that gave this recipe a lower rating because it contained alcohol, You can substitute 1-1/2 cups chicken stock. YES I DO SEE this is on the radar too. Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2015
My son made these once for a party and now everyone wants him to bring them every time! The most interesting part - many times people that swear they don't like deviled eggs will take 2-3 of these! He also add a little sour cream to make it smoother. And, for decorating purposes, He put the yolk mixture into a bag, cut the corner off and pipe it into the eggs! than sprinkle it all with slices of green onion! Not bad at all. He bend call a Semi-Experienced "Sous Chef" We fought over the last one. These are definetly making an appearance for my next holiday dinner. I've too made this deviled egg recipe many times now and every single time it turns out fantastic. This is also just as good with turkey bacon or prepackaged bacon bits and I've found that this is wonderful with just about any cheese, especially white cheddar cheese or pepper jack. I like to add a little hot sauce to the filling as I'm mixing it, too. I didn't know if I was supposed to use power mustard or yellow mustard, I used the yellow mustard and it worked great and added color.

Orange Tilapia

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2015
I just wanted to add a note here for everyone that you can substitute the butter for 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil and it tastes great! Or you can do This classic sauce of sauteed butter, parsley and lemon juice is fantastic. Definitely saute the garlic or else it will taste too raw, even after it's baked. I have used this sauce for almost all types of fish- true cod, halibut, basa, tilapia, sole, trout, and salmon. All tasted superb. ALWAYS increase the garlic. For 4 filets, I use 3 large cloves, 3-4 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoon lemon juice. Just make sure you always have less lemon juice than butter or else it will taste too lemony -even when doubling/tripling it. For a large filet of salmon, I triple the amount. Lightly salt and pepper the fish for more flavor and I sometimes add 2-3 tablespoon of buttered bread crumbs or finely crushed (buttered) ritz crackers for an extra crunch. And of course, fresh parsley is better than dried and use real butter, never margarine. 3 stars for original recipe, 5 stars for slight alterations. Simple and flavorful marinade that still lets the flavor of the fish shine through. TIP- do NOT bake for 30 min, especially tilapia, which is so thin. High temperature, quick cooking time is a rule of thumb for all fish. For this, I did 400*f., for 10-12 min (at most!). If filets are super thin, try 8-10 min. I like it thank's for the recipe to play with. Grpa

Caesar Salad Supreme

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2014
I chose finely chop it as the recipe directs. I used butter lettuce rather than the mixed greens which made this a very "sturdy" salad for lack of a better way of describing it, tho' I'm sure the submitter would agree any lettuce or salad greens would be perfectly suitable. I felt good serving as well as eating this salad - not only is it pretty and delicious, but it's so heart healthy! Eating this you felt like you were really doing something good for yourself (as well as your tastebuds!) This, along with crab cakes, made for a light but satisfying meal.

Authentic German Potato Salad

This was a delicious potato salad! I like mayo, so I was on the hunt for a potato salad that didn't have a lot of mayo in it and a teaspoon of celery seed, it adds a nice texture...this is my favorite potato salad.
