About this Cook
Starting cooking and baking in my early 20's. Holidays are my favorite.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake breads. I have for years made a traditional cinnamon yeast bread cut into a spiral and frosted. It's a favorite with family and friends. One year I made 12 at Christmas!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving and Christmas are favorites. Christmas sugar cookies and sweet cinnamon breads.
My cooking triumphs
In the 1980's I won a cooking contest preparing a Broccoli and raisin salad with a sweet dressing. Very proud of that accomplishment!
My cooking tragedies
Strawberry jello salad that never jelled. I was so embarrassed. It was runny and I ended up bringing it to my party anyway...LOL

Excellent and Healthy Cornbread
Texture and taste was excellent with a light brown crust. I needed a recipe that used plain greek yogurt not milk so it was perfect but since I didn't need low fat, I used a tablespoon of canola oil. I think cornbread needs oil but will try it next time without. Very good with my turnip greens. will make again!

Baked Apricot Chicken
Definitely use boneless skinless thighs. Skin on is what makes too much clear liquid. It's too much fat. I left out 2 tsps of onion mix and 2 tbsp apricot preserves. Here's why. Baked as directed. Last few minutes switched to Broil and basted the leftover mix for few minutes to give it a nice browning. Love love this recipe.

Sesame Lemon Crisps
Batter was gooey but that's what made it so easy and rounded. I will add more lemon zest and a half tsp of lemon extract next time for more to my lemon taste and yes, these are delicate so they make nice tea cookies.
