I work for a consulting firm in Houston which requires me to travel extensively. Own a ranch a hundred miles North of Houston in Elwood Texas and have about 40 head of Angus cattle, still building my herd. Hope to retire in 4 years so I can do what I really like to do, raise cattle, hunt, fish, cook and sip Scotch whisky, not necessarily in that order.

Chili, Roast of any kind, Seafood Tortellini, Brisket, and nearly anything that requires cornbread and gravy on the side.

I don't know if this qualifies as a "cooking" tradition but making and smoking sausage.

Fruit cake what a disaster.
Frying cornish hens on the kitchen stove, like you would fry a turkey outside. Oil went everywhere, it's a wonder I didn't burn the house down. Fortunately it was an electric stove or I probably would have.
