About this Cook
I love to cook, but since i am alone, I tend to cook simple meals. I am also a Master gardener and love to tend my little garden.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake, make homemade pasta and stirfry's.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We were a family who cooked. My Dad and Nana were the cooks in the family, and I followed along. My favorite memory is at Christmas making suger cookies and grinding the nuts for a German cookie called Kipfil. they are heaven.
My cooking triumphs
I once made a birthday cake for my Nana that took 3 days to make. It was called a Spanish Wind Torte and was layer upon layer of meringue filled with whipped cream and raseberries. The next was a peach pie with a cream chees crust. My Mom served it for dessert at dinner party and everyone wanted to know what bakery it came from.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first learning to cook, I would forget to add such things as sugar, baking powder or soda. My brother still refers to some biscuits as "Ellie-Mae's" bullets.

Blueberry Pie
If I make this pie again, I will make several changes. First, I'll use closer to 5 cups of blueberries and then I will increase the cornstarch to about 4 Tbls. Finally, I'll another 1/2 c of surgar or sweetener. The pie did firm up after it was refrigerated. All in all not the best blueberry pie receipe I've used.

Peppermint Meringues
Really simple, fun cookie. If you don't like sugar, you can substitute "Splenda". I used a pastry bag with a large star tip to pipe them on the foil. If you'd like, you can also add 1/2t of pure peppermint extract to the egg whites as you whip them.

Coconut Macaroons II
Great, easy receipe. I used 60% cacao chocolate ships, which cut some of the sweetness.
