About this Cook
I am a mom of 3 teenage boys who won the title of "Best Chili Recipe" on the Today Show in February 2011. I write recipes and love the resources and comments on this website! I am the Sunny Chef on Houston's Sunny 99.1. I have a weekly internet cooking show on www.ShapeUpSugarLand.org. I perform monthly cooking demonstrations at Whole Foods Sugar Land. I bring my Cajun heritage and my love for Texas to all I cook! I pretty much sit around in my free time and think "What is the most delicious thing I can think of today?".
My favorite things to cook
Anything on a grill, meat, side dishes, sauces, and comfort food!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family eats dinner together every night in our kitchen. I cook for them daily and they are all very healthy because of it. I left my job of restaurant management to care for my family and started competing in recipe contests. My family is hugely instrumental in all I do cooking and filming wise.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumphs are the awesome, standout recipes that I have written. Banana Foster Gooey Bars, Crawfish Enchiladas, Cajun Meat Pies, Lone Star Chicken, Jambalaya, Phat Tuesday Pasta, Honey Mustard Chicken Salad, etc.....
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to cook fresh green beans when I was first married with a lemony kick to them. Adding the lemon zest at the end would have worked but I cooked them in the zest with lemon juice and boiling water. They were inedible! What a travesty! i really thought it would be a perfect compliment to my fish that I was cooking. This was in 1995 and I have not mixed lemon and green beans since!
