Jif® Peanut Butter Blossoms

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
I used butter instead of shortening and they came out great. I would suggest making the batter then putting it in the fridge to harden a bit while you unwrap all of the Hershey's kisses. After the kisses are unwrapped, stick them in the freezer while the cookies are baking. This will prevent the chocolate from melting when you stick them in the cookies after they're done baking. I'd also suggest rolling the dough balls in colorful sprinkle right before baking.

Chef John's Classic Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
Yum! I'm so glad I followed this recipe instead of one using canned soup, onion soup mix, etc. This turned out delicious and is perfect for the fall/winter time. Like other reviewers, I used stew meat. I chopped it up into smaller pieces since they were quite large. Next time, I'd cut them up even smaller. The white wine is a MUST for flavor and serving it over buttered egg noodles really brings the whole dish together.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2013
This is a great recipe for fall/winter. I threw everything into a crock pot and cooked it on low for 7.5 hours. I would suggest turning the meat over halfway through the cooking time so the top doesn't dry out.

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
This was okay, but nothing spectacular. I think the chicken bouillon gave a nice flavor to the dish, but overall, it was kind of bland. Next time, I'll add some pesto to the vegetable/sausage mix.

Triple Berry Cheesecake Tart

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
While this tart ended up tasting great, I'd make few modifications the next time I decide to make it. First, I'd double the crust recipe. Also, make sure that the wafers are VERY fine or else it won't stick. Second, I think I'd leave out the lemon Jell-O. It gave a nice flavor to the tart, but made it look kind of gloopy and messy. Lastly, I'd spray the dish with non-stick spray. I found that the crust stuck to the dish a lot and everything ended up crumbling when trying to serve it.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
I liked everything about these muffins except they seemed a little greasy to me. I'm wondering if maybe it was the crumb topping. It may have melted too much and seeped into the rest of the batter. Next time. I'll add the crumb topping halfway through the baking time.

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
This is my first time making pancakes from scratch. This recipe was very easy to follow and I think it's a great base. I was unable to leave the batter to sit for a full hour, but they still turned out good. I would cut down on the salt and increase the sugar, I think, for a sweeter result. Also, fresh blueberries should be used if possible.

Peach-a-Berry Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2013
I'm giving this four stars because it came out very watery. I did drain all of the fruit, but it still resulted in a lot of liquid in the pie. To prevent this, using cornstarch or minute tapioca should help. I'll try that next time. Otherwise, the pie turned out great. Flavors were really nice!

Brownie Batter + Cupcake = The SECOND BEST Cupcake. Ever

Reviewed: May 10, 2013
The end result turned out nice, but the baking was a bit of an issue. I found that the cake batter cooked a lot quicker than the brownie batter. I had to increase the baking time quite a bit, but found that the brownie portion was still a little undercooked. Thankfully, after sitting for awhile, they became a little less gooey. I'm not sure if I'd go through the trouble of making these again, but if I do, I'll definitely top them with peanut butter frosting again. The flavor combo was great!

Jelly Doughnut Cupcakes

Reviewed: May 10, 2013
These cupcakes were very easy to make and pretty good. I was hoping they'd taste a bit more like donuts, but they just tasted like cake.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2013
This marinade was so good! I didn't have any fresh basil since it's not in season yet, so I used dried basil. I can't wait until it gets warmer out because I think the fresh basil will make this even better.

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
Great recipe! I followed it exactly except for using turmeric since I didn't have any on hand. The sauce came out really nice. I served it with rice.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
Great recipe. However, I took the advice of others and adjusted the milk and corn syrup based on the consistency. I probably used about 5 tsp of milk and 3 tsp of corn syrup. Don't let this icing fool you--a little goes a long way! I doubled the recipe, worried I wouldn't have enough, but ended up with a lot left over! I'd definitely use this recipe again.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
This turned out well, but the crumbs ended up pretty flat and powdery. I think next time I'll melt the butter rather than just cutting it in. Otherwise, it was very good.

The Best Parmesan Chicken Bake

I love Chef John's recipes! This is a great, quicker alternative to the classic chicken parm. The croutons really add a nice touch.

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Yum. These were really good. I baked them for about 22 minutes instead of the full 25. I also used about 1 cup less sugar in the frosting.

Grandma's Famous Salmon Cakes

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
These were very good! I changed it up a little though. I left out the onion and just used minced onion. I also seasoned the salmon with garlic powder and old bay. After forming them into patties, I put flours on the outside and then refrigerated them for about 20 minutes. This kept them from falling apart when frying.

Mom's Fabulous Chicken Pot Pie with Biscuit Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
Yum. Great recipe! I used a cut up rotisserie chicken and it turned out amazing. I'd bake it at 400 next time though because the biscuits were pretty underdone.

No Bake Double Good Dessert

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2012
I followed this recipe exactly, but used a smaller container of whipped topping because it's all I had. It was pretty good, but very sweet! I think kids would go nuts over it.

Zucchini and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2012
I didn't have any potatoes, so I just used zucchini and one red bell pepper for this dish. It turned out amazing! Since I omitted the potatoes, I only baked the vegetables for about 35 minutes. I used Italian breadcrumbs, which gave everything a really nice flavor. Can't wait to try this with the potatoes too!
