I am more of a baker than a cook. We eat some meat and fish, but not a lot. I enjoy growing my own vegetables. I try to cook vegetarian meals at least a few times a week, and a lot of quick and easy dinners since we both work full time. I am always keen to find new recipes using as little processed food as possible. I bake from scratch, very rarely using packet mixes. I believe good food, made with love is not BAD for you. I'd rather avoid artificial sweeteners and flavourings, and use real food, sugar, maple syrup, butter and eat in moderation.
My favorite things to cook
When I have the time I love to bake. I'm not big into making full size cakes, even though i like to decorate them. I'd rather make small individual treats - cupcakes,muffins, cookies etc. my husband takes them in his packed lunch too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I think my sisters and I have all picked up on the baking side of things from our Grandmother, and then mum. Grandma would always have some yummy shortbread waiting for us, and homemade treats - even though she worked in one of New Zealands big cookie (we say biscuit) manufacturer's - she still loved to bake her own.
