Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2014
We certainly enjoyed it! Like others, I cubed the potatoes prior to cooking. I used regular new potatoes. As suggested by others, I used 1 cup of mayonnaise and 1 cup of sour cream, and green onions instead of yellow. I also added in a second stalk of celery and a dollop of Dijon mustard. I also only had half a pound of bacon, and found that it was just the right amount. Nice combination of flavours! Thank you for posting.

Cranberry and Cilantro Quinoa Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2014
I may have added too much quinoa. I liked this salad a lot. In future I will add more of the veggies and curry.

Herbed Rice and Spicy Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2014
I really liked this recipe, except for the olive oil. I'll see what it's like tomorrow, as one reviewer noted. I used basmati rice, minced garlic (didn't have the powder), white wine vinegar (didn't have red) and omitted the olives (because I don't like them). Didn't have fresh thyme, so used ground. Also added orange peppers for some colour contrast and a hit of sweetness. This recipe seems like it could adapt well to variations -- thinking about diced tomatoes and jalapeños. A nice lunch option! Thank you!

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Good... I didn't add the red wine, so maybe that's the additional star. Will try again.

Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2012
I had to make a few substitutions, since I didn't have any ranch or italian dry dressing mix. So.... I sprinkled the roast with a flour mixture I had on hand for prime rib (may have got it here on All Recipes). Seared the meat on all sides and placed on top of a layer of sliced onions. Found some ranch dressing in the fridge, and thought, "Well, it's going to get wet when I add water to it anyway...". Also had some dry onion soup mix and the dry gravy mix. Added a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce and some whole peppercorns. Added water to thin it a bit and poured the whole thing over the roast. Added the carrots as per the instructions and left it on low for about 11 hours. Thought it was great. I'll make sure I have the dry ingredients for the next time, but this was really good!

Quick and Easy Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
It took me a while to find the red chili paste, but I'm glad I did. It really made a difference to the final product. Hubby and I will have this again... and again.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2012
My daughter's first words after her first bite were, "This is good. Mom, you've outdone yourself." For a girl who often doesn't finish everything on her plate, this was music to my ears! Thank you! Like others, I changed it a bit: I added more broth, used a pork loin, put onion slices in the bottom of the crock pot and cooked it all day. Then made a batch with the onions mixed in and one without. Used Stubb's Original BBQ sauce. Piled it on soft fresh kaisers -- Delish!

Poached Salmon

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
This is the best poached salmon I've ever had. I don't bother with the water; I add a whole 900 mL tetra box of chicken broth. I also don't make any of the sauce. The salmon is excellent without it. I also like to use any leftover salmon, along with some of the broth, to make either salmon salad sandwiches or salmon pasta salad. Always a treat! Thanks for posting.

Marinated Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2011
My husband said this was a definite make-again. We didn't take the time to marinate overnight, but will next time. We baked ours in the oven at 350 and it turned out really well.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2011
I thought it was pretty good. I will add a bit more spice to the meatballs. I've never actually made meatballs before, so this was a great first effort. I wasn't able to leave the sauce for the full ninety minutes, but it still turned out really well. My family ate it up!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies III

I reduced the flour by 1/4 cup, adding the icing sugar to the flour mixture as suggested by another reviewer, and added cherry-flavoured dried cranberries and chopped walnuts to balance out the chocolate. My husband was eating them all before I could finish baking them!
