Roasted Fall Vegetables

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I had something like this recently, but it had sweet potatoes instead of turnips and used garlic aioli instead of the oil and rosemary.

Honey Mustard Tofu

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
This would be great with some modifications. I think the tofu should be browned without dredging, and then taken out of the pan. Make the sauce, and then put the tofu back in. The addition of cauliflower would be more authentic.

Summer Salad with Cumin-Crusted Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
Even with several substitutions, this was fantastic. I substituted: thinly sliced purple onions for scallions wesleydale for feta baby spinach for mixed greens

Pork Sausage and Cabbage Pitas

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
It was pretty good, if you like cabbage and pork. But the pita was non-sequitar. It added nothing to the meal.

Fast and Easy Tofu Lo-Mein

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
My daughter (who was very tofu skeptical) loves this. It's cheap, its easy, its fast. My only suggestion (if you have time) is to freeze and then thaw the tofu...alot of water will come off it and it will be more firm and meatlike.

Simple Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
Everyone raved on this (not so for other veggie lasagne recipes I've tried). I didn't have enough spinach, so I used half spinach, half chopped frozen and defrosted brocolli. GREAT!

Baingan Bharta (Eggplant Curry)

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
This was delicious. I didn't have any ginger garlic paste or cumin seeds, so I 2 cloves of minced garlic, and ginger and cumin powders to taste. It was fine. I had a few mozzarella sticks banging around in my fridge. Cut 4 into cubes and added that. Served when they just started to soften. Delicious, and they added some oomph. I think it would have not been filling enough without.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: May 12, 2007
This is a great recipe, except for the really ridiculous part about grating frozen butter. I just put the dry ingredients in my food processor, cut up the very cold butter into the processor and then pulse until its cut in. Then add wet ingredients, pulse. Then fruit and/or nuts, pulse. Viola! Start to finish 5 minutes. Great scones.

Raspberry Squares II

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
Very, very good. I used raspberry filling made with frozen raspberries, sugar and cornstarch boiled until goopy (that's the technical cooking term), and the flavor was awesome!

Graham Cracker Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2005
I LOVE good Graham Cracker Pie, but it is hard to find! This is IT! The custard is easy to make AND delicious. If you use a food processor for the crust, its a snap. My only recommendation is that you multiply the custard ingredients by 1 1/2 (ie. use 3 egg yolks, 3 cups milk, etc.) since the filling did not really fill my pice crust, which was 9" not 8".

Newport Clam Chowder

I substituted some chicken broth for clam broth (alot cheaper), and evaporated milk for cream (alot healthier AND cheaper). Delicious!

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2005
This is an unbelievably great recipe. I don't especially care for salmon (or fish in general), but this recipe makes it more than palatable. It almost makes it "candied" salmon...sort of crusty on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. Much better when actually grilled. I tried it with chicken and pork..also very good.

Perfectly delicious. Add more or less garlic to suit. Other veggies can be added (ie. artichokes, peppers)
