About this Cook
I have always cooked, but I made it my New Year's resolution for 2011 to make more gourmet type meals so that my family doesn't get bored with the same ole thing every week. So far Allrecipes has helped a lot!
My favorite things to cook
I am having a lot of fun cooking fish. It's the one thing I haven't really tried, and so far the dishes I've made have been so delicious, thanks to all the great chefs here, and their great recipes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love ham for Thanksgiving and turkey for Christmas. Other than that, we are usually flexible. I'm part Irish, so we always do something fun for St. Patricks Day as well.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking salmon perfectly for the very first time in February when I first joined Allrecipes. I was so proud!
My cooking tragedies
So far nothing has befallen any kind of tragedy but there's always a first for everything.

Slow Cooker Roast Beef
I have made this recipe several times now and enjoyed it every time. I don't find that it's too salty because I use low sodium soy sauce. As others have mentioned, mine usually cooks for about 8 hours and it's done, but I do check the temperature to make sure. This one is a favorite in my house!

Slow Cooker Carolina BBQ
Wow, this turned out awesome. I don't live in NC but have family who live there, and when I was younger we always had NC bbq when we visited. It was always a highlight of the trip. So now that I can make it, it brings back all those great memories. Delicious, and so close to the authentic bbq it's amazing. I made an 8 lb roast but followed the rest as described. The only thing I probably will change next time is to ease up on one of the spices, perhaps the cayenne. But that's just personal preference. It was so close to the real thing, I'm still amazed. Everyone else raved about it too. Thank you so much!

Easy Marinated Mushrooms
When I saw this recipe my eyes popped at all the sugar but I had to try it. It was incredibly rich but it was worth trying! I love mushrooms and this was delicious!
