About this Cook
I'm a married mother of two very young girls, working full-time out of the home (in mental health). I love animals and have one dog. Our cat recently passed away:( I love gourmet cuisine and ethnic cuisine. I LOVE to eat at restaurants for special occasions - small local independently owned specialty restaurants. I have an appreciation for the arts - I love attending galleries and exhibits, concerts and shows, and doing photography.
My favorite things to cook
Almost anything in the Slow Cooker. So convenient for when you're on the run all day. Trying new recipes from around the world.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A very specific south western BC Mennonite (Polish/Russian/German) dry cottage cheese pierogi served with "farmer" sausage made by the same ethnic group.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking my first Christmas turkey dinner for the in-laws!
My cooking tragedies
My first time making stuffing (gluten/corn/dairy free) for the very same Christmas family dinner with the in-laws (who have very specific food restrictions). It was SO dry - terrible!

Oven Roasted Potatoes
Turned out a bit dry for me and a tad too spicy. Will add some water & lemon, and reduce the red pepper flakes by half next time. Great base recipe to tweak with according to your liking!

Chocolate Chip Cookies (Gluten Free)
These are SO good, soft & moist. Cannot tell the difference between these & cookies made with all-purpose refined wheat flour. I am not sensitive to gluten or eggs, I just like trying other grains & avoiding wheat. I used kamut flour (apparently has gluten) and 1 egg in place of the egg-substitute. We love the results. Thank you for a great wheat alternative cookie recipe!

Peachy Keen Smoothie
This is a great base recipe for a smoothie when you don't have yogurt! I didn't have peaches, but I had frozen tropical fruit that I used instead, so I omitted the ice cubes. I also didn't have any rolled oats, so I omitted that, too. And I used skim milk instead of the vanilla soy milk. It was great!
