About this Cook
Since I am a Type II diabetic, I have to be very careful about the carbohydrate content of what I cook. I love Italian and Oriental cuisine, but I have to watch the sauces! I love baking homemade bread - my sourdough starter is over 30 years old, and I've kept it alive that long!
My favorite things to cook
I love a good pork roast with a nice salad (I vary the type of salad). I am very fond of fresh home baked bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey, mashed turnips and mincemeat tarts for Christmas, Ham, Scalloped potatoes and pumpkin chiffon pie for Easter. Have a super dressing for poultry that is made in a slow cooker, and you'd never know the difference. Much healthier too.
My cooking triumphs
Finally getting my bread to look the photo in the cookbook!
My cooking tragedies
Chicken with a chocolate sauce of some kind. A total disaster both in appearance and taste!

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker
Family raved about this! Served it with little new potatoes and a salad. Definitely added to the family cook-book! We use our slow cooker a lot, so this is a bonus!

Chinese Pork Ribs
Did this up in my slow cooker while we were doing things around the house. Dee-lish!

Cornbread Pancakes
Sounds yummy! I don't keep buttermilk around the house, and I don't like the taste when you try to sour sweet milk. However yogurt works just as well. Just add 1/2 cup of sweet milk to thin it out. I use whatever flavour I have on hand. My family love them.
