Cajun-Style Beef and Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2012
this recipe is pretty good, although i did make some changes. i doubled the rice and water equivelent. in a different pan, i cooked the meat, then added the spices (1T old bay seasoning, 1/2 tsp chili powder), beans and onion and let that simmer for a few minutes. then i added the rice (which should be just-under cooked) to the pan along with 1/2C chicken broth and the tomatoes and let the whole dish simmer together for about 20 minutes. it turned out amazing!

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This pie was delicious! I used 4 tbsp cornstarch per recommendations and it turned out just divine! i did the lattice top and it spilled all over the stove. next time i will use a closed top crust to prevent this from happening again. Otherwise, it was magnificent!

Holiday Brie en Croute

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
this was ok, but was too sweet for my taste. i made the brie with apricot preserves and craisins, but i think next time i will try a more savory chutney to offset the sweetness of the cranberries.

White Wine Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
this gravy was ok... there was way too much rosemary for my taste and it turned out a bit salty. but the consistency was good. i'll try it again with a few adjustments.

Classic Goulash

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
This recipe was just so so. I made as written and was not impressed. Next time i'll add some corn and green bell peppers and cut down the italian seasoning and do 2 bay leaves, it was overwhelming. Its a good foundation for goulash but needs some work.
