Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I made this for my daughter's wedding yesterday and it was a big hit. I actually forgot to add the OJ at the end and only added the wine and it was still great. I used spiced rum and blackberry merlot as others suggested. YUM!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
This recipe ended up being too hot for me and hubby. However, I won't rank it so low just becasue we can't handle the heat. The method and idea is really good but I'll have to play around with it to tone it down a little.

The taste of this was better than I thought it would be. I am also going to try with beef short ribs.

Honey-Garlic Glazed Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
These had a surprisingly good flavor. I wished I had made extra of the sauce but overall I found it to be a tasty different type of meatball.

Antipasto Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
This was great for our holiday party. I did follow advice to pre-bake the bottom and I dried the ham and red peppers as well as I could. I added black olives to half of it and I also subbed mozz for swiss as I do not care for it. I served it in small pieces with warm marinara sauce and it was a hit. Thanks

Spicy Chipotle Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
Really good. My husband is skeptical about "burgers" that do not use hamburger but I got him to try this and he thought it was good. I used ground turkey (not breasts) since I was afraid they might be too dry and they came out more moist than I thoguht they would.

Easy Baked Tilapia

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
Good, easy dinner. I will not use the lemon next time and will put a little more Old Bay on it. I'm not a big fan of lemon on my fish but wanted to try the recipe as is first time around. I also used fresh broccoli and cauliflower and it came out just right. Will make again.

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
The flavor was good but I think I will use this to marinade steak tips instead. I like the natural grilled taste of ribeye so I was reluctant to try to do so but the flavors looked good so I tried it. Not bad but for us it will be better served on other cuts of meats.

My husband loves this. Nice and easy - stick it in the slow cooker and forget about it.

Grilled Spicy Lamb Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2008
This was a good burger. Using only lamb was a little too much for me so next I will mix with half beef or pork and I think it will be much better. Must use tzsiki sauce with this one for the best flavor

Thai Spiced Barbecue Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2008
My husband really liked the taste of this. I followed this exactly and let the shrimp marinade all day while at work. I then put it on skewers and grilled.

Gerry's Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2008
I must have done done soemthing wrong becasue my sauce didn't thicken at all and ended up making the whole dish a bit soggy. For me it was too much work for what turned out to be just OK. I will look for somethign easier that's not so watery.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
I thought this was easy and tasty. I followed others advies to line the pan and cover it during the first half of cooking. I also substituted the sugar with Splenda and only use about 1/8 cup. I used thighs which I think went really well with this and were so tender. I may double the sauce next time but otherwise this will be made again in my house.

Melt In Your Mouth Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
My husband loves these. They are good and fall right off the bone. Because they are pork chops, they really are not what I would call moist but I have never tried a recipe where pork chops ever come out moist. This at least makes them soft enough that is makes up for that.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
I cut the recipe to 4 servings as it is only my husband and I and we thought it turned out great. Very flavorful with evrything blending well. We had plenty left over which I have frozen and will reheat in a couple weeks and see how it is then.

Bacon-y Bok Choy

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
This was actually pretty tasty - I always wanted to try to cook bok choy but never really knew how. I could not find baby bok choy in any of my local stores so I used the regular one which still came out great. I am going to keep my eyes out for the baby style.

Jalapeno-Garlic-Onion Cheeseburgers

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
My husband and I really liked these. I didn't use onion as my husband doesn't like it. We had these on big bulky rolls with blure cheese dressing which helped to kepp the heat in check.
