Praline Pecan French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
This was good although I thought it was a little sweet. I think the syrup in the sauce was a little much. If I make it again I will maybe add a little milk instead of the syrup to make more of a caramel type sauce but allow the individuals to put on their own syrup as needed. Nice change from the usual though, thanks for sharing.

Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
This was a good recipe but a couple of things to note. Make sure you grease the pan with butter not baking spray or oil for additional flavor. Also I cut the dough into strips first with a pizza cutter and then rolled each one individually after coating with the butter and cinnamon sugar mixture(that way they don't flatten out). I used 3 paks of yeast but I think 2 would have been plenty. As far as the recipe itself I used yellow cake mix(16.25) because that was all I had and for the frosting I used the recipe from(clone of a cinnabon) We will make them again as they were delicious.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
I am giving this four stars because it was a good starter recipe. The amounts needed were off. I probably used double the amount needed for both the milk and corn syrup because as listed you could cut it with a knife. Once adjusted it does retain color and flavor. Be prepared to adjust as you go. I will still use this again.

Viennese Crescent Holiday Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
I loved these cookies. I swapped the vanilla for almond extract and used almonds instead. You do not need to measure out the powdered sugar for coating... Just coat to taste I just used a strainer and dusted the tops and probably only used 3 Tablespoons. 1 word of caution do not rush this cookie, the dough has to rest in the fridge for at least 45 minutes or it will not hold it's shape in the oven. Well worth the wait just like Grandma's ,they melt in your mouth.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2012
We had these for Thanksgiving. I don't have a bread machine so I mixed by hand. They came out great! My only change would be to cut back on the sugar just a little. Very easy too!

Thanksgiving Turkey gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
Don't throw out your potato water! We normally add additional water as needed but milk can be used in addition to the potato water if you want a richer gravy.

Mashed Jalapeno-Cilantro Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
Fantastic! The jalapeno and cilantro perfectly balance the sweetness in the potatoes even with the OJ. I did not blend them I just mashed with a fork because others complained about them being too mushy. I did not have any walnuts but I think I will try this with Pecans next time which I think will be a better match for the butter and add some texture. This will be on the menu for Thanksgiving this year!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
We really liked this. While I know it may not be traditional with the layer of mashed carrots and cheese I think it actually makes it better. My only change was adding some leftover peas and corn to the ground beef mixture. The cheese is what makes this. We will make this again.

Fajita Marinade I

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
This was fantastic...I only wish I would have had the time to marinate as the instructions state. I was in a time crunch so I replaced the garlic cloves with garlic powder(1 teas) and browned the meat - then I added the spices, lime juice, veggies and a little water and simmerred for about 10 minutes(I did not have liquid smoke) Without a doubt the BEST - I will definitly make these again but make sure I have the time to marinate them.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
This was so easy and the end result is so much tastier than a packet! The only change was I did not use the red pepper because of the kids and regular salt instead of sea salt. Once you try it you won't use packets anymore either!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
This was really good, so much better than a can or a spice packet and really easy. Very forgiving too, if it is too sweet add more of the other spices. I did not have green peppers so I used the red ones and I used regular mustard since I did not have the powdered. Otherwise I followed the recipe. I did add water to get them more sloppy. This will be a go to from now on!

Chocolate Orange Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
This was delicious - I could not find 18.25oz cake mix so I had to use the smaller size(15.25) but it did not appear to make a difference. The only change was I used Grand Marnier in place of the orange extract, everything else as written. I starting checking it at 45 min. Very moist and everyone loved it - Thanks for the recipe!

This was ok...the butter flavor was good but to me the crackers lacked flavor. I will probably do this again but adjust the seasonings a bit.
