About this Cook
I am married with two kids ages 5 and 7. I would love to cook more but working full time you are always juggling something...This website has been fantastic!
My favorite things to cook
Our family is a melting pot! We have some italian, greek, spanish, and middle eastern. Every new member to our family brings their family recipes too! Luckily they are all delicious!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sunday family dinner was always a big.one. We are a little to big and scattered now to have the entire family..but we still have sunday dinner in each of our families. We usually had homemade spaghetti, or chicken and dumplings with all the fixings...yum.
My cooking triumphs
I can make homemade chicken and dumplings as good as my.grandma, from scratch without bisquick (yuck) or biscuit dough.
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at a roasted chicken was a disaster! Not enough salt, and the dark meat was not.done.

Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce
This was delicious! The cutting of the onion was a bit tricky and I don't think I separated the petals enough but the batter was awesome! I did not have mayo or horseradish so I subbed sour cream for the mayo and hot sauce and worcestshire for the horseradish. It tasted just like the restaurant! We will make this again.

Corn on the Grill
This was delicious! My husband only wanted to try it on 3 ears of corn so I put the remainder on a potato that I sliced and wrapped in foil...this was fingerlicking good. The only change I made was I halved the cumin and added 1/2a teaspoon of chili powder based on others suggestions. We are hooked!!!

Refried Beans Without the Refry
These were really good. I wish I had listed to other reviews and not added the salt until later as they were a little tough - but I will know for next time. The flavor was great without the calories. I think I will add a little more jalapeno and some sour cream next time but this is definitely a keeper.
